Data from: Local cod (Gadus morhua) revealed by egg surveys and population genetic analysis after longstanding depletion on the Swedish Skagerrak coa…
2019
Dramatic and persistent reductions in Atlantic cod (Gadus morhua) are common in many coastal areas. While offshore cod stocks still were abundant and productive, the Swedish west coast showed signs of diminishing adult cod abundance at the beginning of the 1980s, where the local cod component was considered to be extirpated. To survey the present cod spawning activity and stock composition, we initiated egg trawling over two consecutive years (203 hauls in total) in combination with population genetic analyses (425 individually genotyped eggs). Here, we provide evidence of cod spawning at the Swedish Skagerrak coast, suggesting recolonization or that local cod has recovered from a nearly de…
Data from: Seasonal dynamics of Atlantic herring (Clupea harengus L.) populations spawning in the vicinity of marginal habitats
2015
Gillnet sampling and analyses of otolith shape, vertebral count and growth indicated the presence of three putative Atlantic herring (Clupea harengus L.) populations mixing together over the spawning season February–June inside and outside an inland brackish water lake (Landvikvannet) in southern Norway. Peak spawning of oceanic Norwegian spring spawners and coastal Skagerrak spring spawners occurred in March–April with small proportions of spawners entering the lake. In comparison, spawning of Landvik herring peaked in May–June with high proportions found inside the lake, which could be explained by local adaptations to the environmental conditions and seasonal changes of this marginal hab…
Dualistisches Fortpflanzungsverhalten bei dem protogynen LippfischThalassoma bifasciatum und einige Beobachtungen über dessen Tag-Nacht-Wechsel
1973
1.Thalassoma bifasciatum is a protogynous wrasse with (partial) sexual dimorphism and male dichromatism. Sex-inversion takes place without affecting the color pattern. 2. Males with female-like color dress indulge in group spawning; males with the bright color pattern perform pair spawning. 3. Among the brightly colored males exists a well-established hierarchy. Dominant males only have a particular spawning area in which they spawn daily at a certain time around noon. The spawning area is optically marked by conspicuous behavior of the bright male. Courtship activities towards individual partners are rather superficial. 4. The female has the leading role in pair spawning. In the extremely …
STUDY OF LARGE PELAGIC FISH LIFE-HISTORY TRAITS IN THE CENTRAL MEDITERRANEAN SEA AND PROJECTION UNDER FUTURE CLIMATE CHANGE SCENARIOS
2022
One of the most sensitive life periods for each species is the first life stages (larval and juvenile). The survival rates of pelagic fish larvae in these phases are usually very low and subject to fluctuations, consequently affecting the recruitment of new generations. From historical Tuna landing data, the stock's abundance is fluctuating, especially for Atlantic Bluefin Tuna (ABT) (Thunnus thynnus, Linnaeus, 1758) Eastern stock. It is the largest Mediterranean Tuna and one of the most expensive species in the world. Some studies hypothesized that the fluctuations are dictated by environmental factors, particularly in the early life stages. Therefore, it appears necessary to better unders…
Unveiling the Relationship Between Sea Surface Hydrographic Patterns and Tuna Larval Distribution in the Central Mediterranean Sea
2021
Thunnus thynnus (Atlantic bluefin tuna, ABT) and other tuna species reproduce in the Mediterranean Sea during the summer period. Despite the Central Mediterranean Sea, the Strait of Sicily in particular, being a key spawning site for many tuna species, little is known on the effects of oceanographic variability on their larval distribution in this area. The abundance and presence-absence of larval specimens for three tuna species (ABT, bullet tuna and albacore) were modeled in order to examine their relationships with environmental factors, by analysing historical in situ information collected during seven annual surveys (2010–2016). The results revealed that most tuna larvae for the three …
Jana Pawła II ekumeniczna wizja Kościoła
2016
Niektórzy porównywali je nawet do chrztu Polski.
Connections between microhabitat factors and dimensions of brown trout (Salmo trutta) redds
2017
This study is part of a process of habitat restoration and management of Finnish and Swedish rivers. This study was conducted to analyse detailed and generalised data regarding microhabitat factors and dimensions of spawning redd of brown trout (salmo trutta). The objectives of this study were to analyse connections between redd dimensions, connections between redd length and microhabitat factors and to analyse the variability of redd length and microhabitat factors among catchments in order to understand spawning habitat selectivity of brown trout (salmo trutta). The study shows that the redd dimensions are positively and strongly correlated. Redd length is weakly correlated to microhabita…
Opawski epizod w dziejach staropolskich ksiąg sądowych. Przyczynek do relokacji archiwaliów polskich w czasie II wojny światowej
2020
In March 1939, the Czech State Archive in Opava (Zemsky Archiv v Opave), temporarily renamed Landesarchiv, was transformed into Reichsarchiv Torppau, one of the two higher level archives established in lands annexed to the Third Reich on the basis of the Munich Agreement. Its basie aim was to document the history of the so-called Sudetenland, with particular consideration of the role of the German nation in its civilization development. This task was to be supervised by the new head of the archive, Walther Klemens Latzke from Vienna, a historian and archivist, a declared Nazi and a member of the NSDAP sińce 10 December 1931. During his 3 years of work in Opava, he displayed skills in archiv…
Selection of spawning substratum by European river lampreys (Lampetra fluviatilis) in experimental tanks
2014
The selection of spawning substratum by the river lamprey (Lampetra fluviatilis) was studied in two experimental tanks with different flow conditions. In both tanks, four gravel sizes mixed with 15% sand were available to the test animals. In the tank with the lower current speed, lampreys selected in favour of the finest (2–8 mm) gravel size available against gravel sizes 4–20 mm and 8–40 mm. Selection was also significantly different in the tank with higher current speed where selection against the medium-sized substratum (4–20 mm) was evident, but there were no differences between selection for gravel sizes 2–8 mm, 2–40 mm and 8–40 mm relative to availability. Substratum selection and ob…
