Calibration of the underground muon detector of the Pierre Auger Observatory

To obtain direct measurements of the muon content of extensive air showers with energy above $10^{16.5}$ eV, the Pierre Auger Observatory is currently being equipped with an underground muon detector (UMD), consisting of 219 10 $\mathrm{m^2}$-modules, each segmented into 64 scintillators coupled to silicon photomultipliers (SiPMs). Direct access to the shower muon content allows for the study of both of the composition of primary cosmic rays and of high-energy hadronic interactions in the forward direction. Media diversification and information superhighways that have become faster and faster have boosted the circulation of economic terms in the popular press, along with the interaction between editorial contents targeted at the general population, which are similar in nature. This twin phenomenon of circulation and interaction was highlighted in a contrastive study of the way the German and the French press managed the euro crisis between 2011 and 2013: articles devoted to the debt of countries that are going through hard economic times require expert knowledge, but also resort to popularization strategies that show multi-level interdiscursivity.

Darba tēma: Ģimenes izpratne mūsdienās konstitucionālajās tiesībās. Latvijas normatīvajos aktos ir salīdzinoši šaurs ģimenes jēdziena definējums, kas atrodams Civillikumā. Latvijas Republikas Satversmē noteikts, ka valsts pienākums ir aizsargāt ģimeni, taču tajā nav izskaidrots, kā saprast jēdzienu “ģimene”. Darba mērķis ir izpētīt paradumu un sabiedrības attīstības ietekmi uz ģimenes izpratni, atklāt šī jēdziena saturu, kā arī aplūkot citu valstu praksi un Latvijai būtisko Eiropas reģionālās cilvēktiesību sistēmas pieredzi ģimenes satura noskaidrošanā, kas nenoliedzami ietekmē arī ģimenes izpratni Latvijas konstitucionālajās tiesībās. Penicillium lanoso-viride AMP dezamināzes imunomodulatoro mehānismu izpēte dažādās imūno šūnu subpopulacijās

Maģistra darbā tika pētīti P.lanoso-viride AMPD imunomodulatorie mehānismi. Lai identificētu imūnās sistēmas šūnu populācijas un PRR klāstu, kas atbildīgi par AMPD atpazīšanu, ex vivo tika stimulēti perifēro asiņu paraugi ar AMPD (10 μg/ml), LPS (1 μg/ml) un Lentinānu (10 μg/ml) 4h vai 24 h. Tika veikta monocītu subopoulāciju fenotipēšana un aktivācijas marķieru (CD16, HLA-DR) virsmas un gēnu ekspresijas analīze, iekaisuma citokīnu (TNFα, IL-8, IL-6, IL-1b, MIP-1a, MIP-1b) sekrēcijas analīze. Tika veikta MR, TLR2, TLR4 un Dectin1 receptoru bloķēšana perifēro asiņu mononukleārajās šūnās. Binding abilities of polyaminocyclodextrins: polarimetric investigations and biological assays.

Three polyaminocyclodextrin materials, obtained by direct reaction between heptakis(6-deoxy-6-iodo)-β-cyclodextrin and the proper linear polyamines, were investigated for their binding properties, in order to assess their potential applications in biological systems, such as vectors for simultaneous drug and gene cellular uptake or alternatively for the protection of macromolecules.
