The problem of statelessness in Cambodia
2018
Statelessness has become an issue of concern to the international community since after the World War I. An estimated 15 million people are refused citizenship around the world. Statelessness occurs due to many reasons, such as gaps in nationality laws, the moving of people from their own birth country, a child born in a foreign country, the emergence of new states and changes in borders or statelessness because a person’s nationality is lost or removed. Stateless people are unable to enjoy several of their fundamental rights including access to education, access to healthcare services, to acquire a job, the freedom of movement (traveling) and other civil and political rights such as a righ…

Disabled People from Welfare to Jobs: A Decision Support Tool
2012
Despite repeated statements from successive governments in Norway, disabled people employment rate remains unchanged since 2000. A range of studies to describe and analyse the situation qualitatively and quantitatively have been performed, however we have not been able to find any study containing a decision support tool focusing on this issue. This paper presents a simulation model, built using the System Dynamics methodology. The model focuses on enabling disabled people to move from welfare to work, incorporating attitudes of disabled people and employers. The model is designed to cover selected factors that are believed to enable and encourage disabled people to take up jobs. It is inte…
Luigi Sturzo deals with public…
Validation of an explicative model of the successful aging process with psychological, physical, relational, and leisure variables
2015
Increasingly, research on the aging process tends to adopt a dual perspective emic (specific to a culture) and etic (universal), requiring further studies to address this cross-cultural approach. The aim is to obtain an empirical answer to the question of whether a model of successful aging raised from a different context such as the Taiwanese context, is suitable to represent this process in our elders. The sample consisted of 737 elderly. Socio-demographic-data and different scales to assess life satisfaction, leisure, health, and social support were collected. A structural equation model taken from Lee et al. (2011), in which leisure, health and social support predicted life satisfaction…
Health system reforms and the needs of the ageing population : an analysis of recent policy paths and reform trends in Finland and Sweden
2022
AbstractPopulation ageing with an increasing number of people experiencing complex health and social care needs challenges health systems. We explore whether andhow health system reforms and policy measures adopted during the past two decades in Finland and Sweden reflect and address the needs of the older people. We discuss health system characteristics that are important to meet the care needs of older people and analyse how health policy agendas have highlighted these aspects in Finland and Sweden. The analysis is based on “most similar cases”. The two countries have rather similar health systems and are facing similar challenges. However, the policy paths to address these challenges are…
