2020
Several sicilian religious celebrations are characterized by a particular mode of processional transport of the fercoli with the statues of the Saints. These are made to run and dance by devoted young men, often competing with each other, both on the streets of the inhabited centers and, in rare cases, inside the religious buildings. This mode of transport is called, especially in the countries of the western Agrigento’s area, “rigattiata”. Many evidences, first of all the agonal climate, suggest that the same performative logic presides over the ritual execution of the “rigattiati” and the ergological action of the work in the fields. The competitive and conflicting climate between two or …
Analysis of Sustainable Performance in Romania’s Local Public Administrations: An External Stakeholders Perspective
2016
Building a sustainable performance system at the level of the local public administrations must have as starting point the local public administration’s (LPA) mission and must go down to the level of the individual. This system must follow the external performance that it delivers to the citizens, the outcomes generated, but also the internal performance which suggests how to achieve the external performance. We propose in this regard the simultaneous use of the Balanced Scorecard tool for managing the internal performance and the Public Service Value Model for measuring the external performance measurement which derives from the organization's mission. In the second part of the work we ana…
Arte da Linguagem na Era da Panofonia
2018
This article calls attention to the hybrid genre of voice-based performances and its blending of the supposed binaries of human and machinic speech. Using the concept of panophonia, the author refers to the animatronic sculptures of speaking figures created by Ken Feingold and to Mark Böhlen’s talking robots. Through their comparative analysis, the author explores different poetic metalanguages both artists create to deconstruct communicative structures that demarcate post-human era.
Measuring Aksak Rhythm and Synchronization in Transylvanian Village Music by Using Motion Capture
2015

Techniques based on motion capture can be useful in analyzing a wide range of musical styles and practices: in this case, Transylvanian village music. We focused on a repertoire known as “Gypsy songs of sorrow”, played by professional Gypsy musicians during parties and celebrations of their own community. Two parameters were the object of study: rhythmic duration, and synchronization between musicians (a violinist and a viola player). Results show that rhythm is a local variant of aksak and is based on two duration units (S=short, L=long) which respect the formula 2:3 < S:L &am…
¿Música o magia? La presentación de las ondas musicales de Maurice Martenot en España
2015
On 1928, the French musician Maurice Martenot presented at Paris Opera a new electronic musical instrument which he called musical waves. It had success like only a few and attracted the interest of the composers, Martenot strove to spread it with a initial tour that took it all around the world between 1931 and 1932. From the information given by the press –because there are not more references– this article aims to rebuild the presentation of the instrument in Spain all along 1932, to report about the reception by the review and to justify the mystery that involved the instrument because of its unknown electronic running and its performance only with the hands movement on the air.En 1928,…
The Test–Retest Repeatability of a Rhythm Coordination Test Procedure in 4- to 6-Year-Old Children : A Pilot Study
2020
Moving to music combines the ability of rhythm and coordination. In relation to the musical and motor development of children, sensorimotor synchronization requires the ability to perceive and perform a steady beat. The present pilot study aimed to investigate the test–retest repeatability of a rhythm coordination test procedure in order to pilot the procedure for children. Test–retest repeatability reflects the variation in measurements taken by the rhythm coordination test on the same participant under the same conditions. Ten children (mean age 5.5 years, standard deviation (SD) 0.6) participated in the tests. The test performance was evaluated in points from 0 to 8, separately at a slow…
Modulation of the Endocannabinoids N-Arachidonoylethanolamine (AEA) and 2-Arachidonoylglycerol (2-AG) on Executive Functions in Human.
2013
Animal studies point to an implication of the endocannabinoid system on executive functions. In humans, several studies have suggested an association between acute or chronic use of exogenous cannabinoids (Δ9-tetrahydrocannabinol) and executive impairments. However, to date, no published reports establish the relationship between endocannabinoids, as biomarkers of the cannabinoid neurotransmission system, and executive functioning in humans. The aim of the present study was to explore the association between circulating levels of plasma endocannabinoids N-arachidonoylethanolamine (AEA) and 2-Arachidonoylglycerol (2-AG) and executive functions (decision making, response inhibition and cognit…
Might as well jump: Sound affects muscle activation in skateboarding
2014
The aim of the study is to reveal the role of sound in action anticipation and performance, and to test whether the level of precision in action planning and execution is related to the level of sensorimotor skills and experience that listeners possess about a specific action. Individuals ranging from 18 to 75 years of age - some of them without any skills in skateboarding and others experts in this sport - were compared in their ability to anticipate and simulate a skateboarding jump by listening to the sound it produces. Only skaters were able to modulate the forces underfoot and to apply muscle synergies that closely resembled the ones that a skater would use if actually jumping on a ska…
MANAGEMENT STYLE AS A TRIGGERING FACTOR FOR ORGANIZATION EFFECTIVENESS AND EFFICIENCY
