A Study on the Emigration Enablers of the Romanian Students in Theology

2018

The main purpose of this article is to describe and validate/test a set of hypothetical traits of the theology students from two important Romanian universities regarding their migration attitudes after graduation. The study is based on a consistent questionnaire survey, both in terms of architecture of variables and number of complete responses. After cleaning, processing and doing all the required derivations on the original data, statistical analysis methods have been applied. The results have brought solid arguments to validate all the hypotheses that marked the starting point of this study. They finally proved the importance of specific personal motivations and personality traits as ke…

In search of a theoretical framework of factors influencing work and life balance

2021

Work and life balance (WLB) has gained noticeable attention amid the pandemic. Even before the outbreak of COVID-19, the increasing pace of life encouraged the investigation of individual and organisational aspects of WLB. Physically and mentally healthy people help society develop and grow. Health issues caused by work and life imbalance lead to dissatisfaction with both work and life, which, in turn, leads to higher stress and stress-related illnesses, for instance, burnout. From the organisational point of view, WLB is a factor in analysing the efficiency of an enterprise. The consequences of a work-life imbalance are intentional or unintentional absence, high employee turnover, low prod…

DNA Fingerprinting as a Tool of Paternity Testing in Germany

1991

Soon after the discovery of the ABO blood groups by Landsteiner their forensic application was suggested by Max Richter at the 74. Versammlung Deutscher Naturforscher und Arzte at Karlsbad (Karlovy Vary) in 1902 [1], Landsteiner’s Nobel lecture “Uber individuelle Unterschiede des menschlichen Blutes” in 1930 [2] provided a landmark on the path towards the discovery of so-called hypervariable minisatellite regions of human DNA by Alec Jeffreys in 1985 [3]. Since the individual patterns of any human being seemed to be unique it is well understood that this achievement was immediately welcomed with great enthusiasm by the scientific community and the public opinion. Soon thereafter, however, s…

How well does brand personality predict brand choice ?

2004

The research proposes a methodology allowing both the construction of a brand personality scale and the test of the ability of the scale to predict brand choice. A brand personality scale is developed and tested via exploratory and confirmatory analyses. A brand personality structure composed of 12 facets is uncovered and allows clearly differentiating brands belonging to the same market. Predictive power of the scale is then tested using binary regression models.

Psychological Variables and Reality Judgment in Virtual Environments: The Roles of Absorption and Dissociation

2009

Literature on virtual reality (VR) and psychology has focused on the influence that some basic psychological processes have on VR. Although psychological processes may be defined as common to all humans, there are individual differences that might make it difficult to provide the same VR experience for everyone. Of the several personality and psychological variables that might be relevant to the VR field, this study focuses on two: absorption and dissociation. Both psychological dimensions are deeply interrelated and might play an important role in the immersion of subjects in virtual environments and in the reality attributions they make. Thus, the purpose of this study was to ascertain pe…

The Model of Teacher’s Tolerant Behaviour as the Means for the Humanization of the Pedagogical Process

2015

Humanization is the key educational strategy in a democratic society. According to the principles of the Council of Europe, the mission of education is to help everyone to develop his/ her individual potential and become a citizen of the European Community, to understand interconnectedness with Europe and the rest of the world. In accordance with the concept of common European culture, young people have to be able to understand the contemporary world and adapt to constant changes, work actively and creatively, continue learning, explore problems, cooperate and perfect themselves (Ross,2006). Scholars agree that the humanization of education is a necessary precondition in order to educate an…

2021

This study contributes to the therapist variable in general and the personality profile of securely and insecurely attached psychotherapists and other healthcare professionals in particular. In a preceding study, it has been found that insecurely attached psychotherapists differ in nine personality styles from securely attached ones. The aim of the present study was to replicate these findings and to investigate whether they also apply to other health professions such as dentists. About 891 subjects from two German professional societies for hypnosis were surveyed online with a personality questionnaire [Personality Styles and Disorder Inventory (PSDI)] and an attachment questionnaire [Rela…

User evaluation of a therapist-guided internet-delivered treatment program for anxiety disorders: A qualitative study

2021

Therapist-guided internet-based cognitive behaviour therapy (ICBT) has been proposed as a potential means to increase individuals' access to quality mental health care and effective treatment. Guided ICBT aims to increase a patient's knowledge and competence to better cope with their disorder. Despite the growing evidence supporting the effects of guided ICBT, there is remarkably little research on the different factors that are important for patients to achieve effects from using such digital treatment interventions. Thus, the aim of this study was to conduct a user evaluation of a therapist-guided ICBT program using the updated DeLone and McLean (D&M) model for measuring information syste…
