The association of an excessive blood pressure increase with exercise (i.e., an increase in systolic blood pressure with exercise ≥95th percentile) with lower risk of subsequent events in patients with known or suspected coronary artery disease has been consistently verified even in those with baseline hypertension. Nonetheless, this negative association, also confirmed in another study on a Japanese population, might depend on peak VO2, such that the prognostic value of blood pressure response might be limited in patients with preserved exercise capacity. In addition, a hypertensive response with exercise (defined as a systolic blood pressure ≥220 mmHg during the test) has also been associ…

cardiovascular effects of I/D angiotensin converting enzyme gene polymorphismin healty subjects: Findings after follow-up of six years

2005

Background - An increasing number of studies with conflicting results regarding the association between angiotensin-converting enzyme (ACE) gene deletion polymorphism and cardiovascular disease has recently been published. The present prospective long-term study was conducted to evaluate whether the DD genotype could also be associated with a higher prevalence of hypertension in healthy subjects over 6 years of follow-up. We also investigated the effects of the ACE-I/D genotypes on diastolic function by echocardiography in healthy subjects without any risk factors and any events after 6 years of follow-up. Methods - Population: 684 healthy volunteers (aged 25-55 years) normotensive and free…

Micro-organisms have been explored as passive and severely stressed riders of atmospheric transport systems. Recently, an interest in the active roles of these micro-organisms has emerged along with prop…

Darba vides risku ietekme uz transportlīdzekļu krāsotājiem un preventīvie pasākumi veselības veicināšanā, Arina Kudrjavceva, darba vadītāja LU asoc. prof., Dr. chem. Anda Prikšāne. Maģistra darbs, 51 lappuses, 12 attēli, 6 tabulas, 31 literatūras un informācijas avoti, 5 pielikumi. Latviešu valodā. Maģistra darbs izstrādāts ar mērķi pētīt darba vides radīto risku ietekmi uz transportlīdzekļu krāsotāju veselību un izstrādāt veselību veicināšanas pasākumus, risinājumus risku mazināšanai. Maģistra darbā tika veikta darba vides un darbavietu risku novērtēšana, izmantojot specializētas risku novērtēšanas metodes. Transportlīdzekļu krāsotāji, pildot savus amata pienākumus, tiek pakļauti dažādiem …

Heavy flavour decay muon production at forward rapidity in proton--proton collisions at sqrt(s) = 7 TeV

2012

The production of muons from heavy flavour decays is measured at forward rapidity in proton-proton collisions at $\sqrt{s} = 7$ TeV collected with the ALICE experiment at the LHC. The analysis is carried out on a data sample corresponding to an integrated luminosity $L_{\rm int} = 16.5$ nb$^{-1}$. The transverse momentum and rapidity differential production cross sections of muons from heavy flavour decays are measured in the rapidity range 2.5 < y < 4, over the transverse momentum range 2 < $p_{\rm T}$ < 12 GeV/$c$. The results are compared to predictions based on perturbative QCD calculations.

Asymptotic potentials and rate constants in the adiabatic capture centrifugal sudden approximation for X + OH(X-2 Pi) -> OX + H(S-2) reactions where …

2012

International audience; New long-range multipolar coefficients for the X + OH(X-2 Pi) interactions, where X = O(P-3), S(P-3) and N(S-4), are given here. They have been evaluated on the basis or monomer properties of the atoms and OH such as the dipole and quadrupole moments, and the static and dynamic polarizabilities. Each matrix element of the 18 x 18 (8 x 8 for N + OH) quasi-degenerate asymptotic potentials has been built up by means of the perturbation theory up to second order including or not the fine-structure of O, S and OH. The adiabatic potentials, obtained after diagonalization of the full matrix, show many crossings and complex behaviors near the asymptotes. Using the entrance c…
