Pulmonary hypertension is well documented in severe COPD but little is known about vascular remodeling in mild/moderate patients. Aim:To investigate bronchial and pulmonary muscular arteries morphology and the expression of elastic fibers (EF) and collagen I in the lungs of mild/moderate COPD patients. Ekspertu iesaistīšanās starptautiskajā šķīrējtiesas procesā ir ierasta prakse. Lai arī visbiežāk strīda pusēm pēc savas izvēles pieaicinot ekspertus, nepastāv vienota pieeja tam, kādas prasības ir izvirzāmas pušu pieaicinātiem ekspertiem šķīrējtiesas procesā. Tāpat ir neskaidrs jautājums par pušu pieaicinātu ekspertu noraidīšanu jeb izslēgšanu no šķīrējtiesas procesa, kaut arī nereti šādi noraidījumi tiek pieteikti. Autora mērķis ir ierosināt uzlabojumus esošajam regulējumam saistībā ar pušu pieaicinātu ekspertiem starptautiskajā šķīrējtiesas procesā, analizējot dažādu šķīrējtiesu reglamentus, praksi, kā arī tiesību doktrīnu.

Rayleigh-instability-driven dewetting of thin Au and Ag films on indium-tin-oxide surface under nanosecond laser irradiations

Investigations have been carried out on laser-beam-induced nanoparticle (NP) formation in thin (5 nm) Au and Ag films on indium-tin-oxide substrate. After the irradiation the films were observed to break-up into NPs through a dewetting mechanism. This mechanism was investigated as a Rayleigh-instability- driven process. In fact, for each used laser fluence, the resulting Au and Ag NPs' mean size and surface-to-surface mean distance were quantified and correlated between them in the framework of the Rayleigh-instability theory showing an excellent agreement. © The Institution of Engineering and Technology 2013.

Underlying-event properties in pp and p–Pb collisions at √sNN = 5.02 TeV

We report about the properties of the underlying event measured with ALICE at the LHC in pp and p–Pb collisions at √sNN = 5.02 TeV. The event activity, quantified by charged-particle number and summed-pT densities, is measured as a function of the leading-particle transverse momentum (ptrigT). These quantities are studied in three azimuthal-angle regions relative to the leading particle in the event: toward, away, and transverse. Results are presented for three different pT thresholds (0.15, 0.5 and 1 GeV/c) at mid-pseudorapidity (|η| 10 GeV/c, whereas for lower ptrigT values the event activity is slightly higher in p–Pb than in pp collisions.
