Resistance training status modifies inflammatory response to explosive and hypertrophic resistance exercise bouts.

The purpose of the present study was to examine the immediate and prolonged immune response in circulating cytokine and adipocytokine concentrations after two different resistance exercise bouts: hypertrophic (HYP1, 5 × 10, 80% of 1RM) and maximal explosive (POW1, 10 × 5, 60% of 1RM) resistance exercise bouts and how 12 weeks of resistance training (RT) modifies these responses (HYP2, POW2). Neuromuscular adaptations and serum hormones in females during prolonged power training.

Training-induced adaptations in the neuromuscular and endocrine systems were investigated in seven females during prolonged power type strength training. Sympathetic nervous activity and the pressor effect of noradrenaline under chronic?-?-adrenoceptor blockade with labetalol in hypertension

In 14 patients with essential hypertension, the influence of the alpha- and beta-adrenoceptor blocking drug labetalol on blood pressure, heart rate, plasma renin, plasma noradrenaline and pressor effect of exogenous noradrenaline was investigated during long-term treatment. During the initial four weeks of treatment, labetalol at a dose of 400 mg/day showed a slight effect only on supine blood pressure, whereas upright blood pressure was already lowered effectively after the second week of treatment (p less than 0.01). Neuromuscular adaptations and serum hormones in women during short-term intensive strength training

The effects were investigated in ten women of intensive heavy resistance strength training lasting for 3 weeks on electromyographic (EMG) activity, muscle cross-sectional area (CSA) and voluntary force production characteristics of leg extensor muscles. Blood samples for the determinations of serum hormones were taken from five of the subjects. Significant increases occurred in the higher force portions of the isometric force-time curve with an increase of 9.7 (SD 8.4)% (P less than 0.01) in maximal peak force.
