Ģeogrāfisko informācijas sistēmu apguve pamatskolā: Arcgis online praktiskie uzdevumi ģeogrāfijā 7.-9. klasēs
2022
Bakalaura darba tēma ir “Ģeogrāfisko informācijas sistēmu apguve pamatskolā: ArcGIS Online praktiskie uzdevumi ģeogrāfijā 7.-9.klasēs”. Ģeogrāfiskā izglītība visā pasaulē mainās, pēdējā laikā skolās aktīvāk sāka pielietot ģeogrāfiskās informācijas sistēmas (ĢIS) ģeogrāfijas stundās. Arī Latvijā kopš kompetenču pieejas ieviešanu visos mācību priekšmetos, par ģeogrāfijas mācību satura neatņemamo daļu kļuva tiešsaistes ĢIS vide ArcGIS Online, kas ļauj skolēniem izmantot interaktīvās kartes. Ņemot vērā to, ka darbs ar interaktīvām kartēm ir jaunums Latvijas skolās un materiālu daudzums nav pietiekams, bakalaura darba ietvaros tika izvirzīts mērķis - izstrādāt praktiskos uzdevumus ArcGIS Online …
Archaeometric characterization of late Archaic ceramic from Erice (Sicily) aimed to provenance determination
2019
A set of 20 ceramic samples was autoptically selected from the numerous findings recovered from the stratigraphic excavations of the late Archaic city walls of Erice (western Sicily), in order to be analyzed with archaeometric techniques for provenance determination. The excavations were recently carried out as part of a research project funded by the Freie Universiat Berlin and the Fritz Thyssen Foundation. Specifically, the ceramic material consists of tableware with a painted geometric decoration of presumed local/regional production, as well as apparently imported black-glazed pottery. Both the categories can be traced back to a chronological period between the second half/last quarter …
The petrology of two distinct granulite types in the Hengshan Mts, China, and tectonic implications
2005
Abstract The Archean to Proterozoic Hengshan Complex (North China Craton), comprises tonalitic and granodioritic gneisses with subordinate mafic lenses, pegmatites and granites. Amphibolite facies assemblages predominate, although granulite-facies relics are widespread, and greenschist-facies retrogression occurs in km-wide shear zones. Mafic lenses, locally abundant, occur as strongly deformed amphibolite (hornblende+plagioclase) boudins or sheets. In contrast to previously published models we find two series of mafic rocks with distinctly different granulite-facies evolutions. In the north of the Complex, relict high-pressure mafic granulites are garnet+clinopyroxene-bearing rocks with a …

Entella. Manufatti in pietra tenera di epoca medievale. Primi risultati da un approccio multidisciplinare
2016
Millennial-scale phase relationships between ice-core and Mediterranean marine records: insights from high-precision 40Ar/39Ar dating of the Green Tu…
2013
International audience; With the advent of annually-resolved polar ice records extending back to 70 ka, marine and continental paleoclimate studies have now matured into a discipline where high-quality age control is essential for putting on an equal pace layer-counted timescale models and Late Quaternary sedimentary records. High-resolution U-Th dating of speleothem records and 40Ar/39Ar dating of globally recorded geomagnetic excursions have recently improved the time calibration of Quaternary archives, reflecting the cross-disciplinary effort made to synchronize the geologic record at the millennial scale. Yet, tie-points with such an absolute age control remain scarce for paleoclimatic …
Selinunte (Sicily) and its productive context: the clayey raw materials applied in a long-lived ceramic production (seventh to third century BCE)
2016
The westernmost of the Greek-Sicilian towns, Selinunte, founded in western Sicily during the second half of the seventh century BCE, gives amazing evidences of a historic activity of ceramic production (seventh to third century BCE). The present study aims to identify the raw materials available in the vicinity of the archaeological site of Selinunte, which were possibly used by the ancient potters, and to characterise them by means of petrographic and chemical techniques. A sampling campaign of clays and sands for tempering was undertaken in the archaeological site and the adjacent area. Moreover, locally produced archaeological bricks and tiles were considered helpful for comparison regar…
Early Bronze Age painted wares from Tell el-'Abd, Syria: A compositional and technological study
2018
Abstract The ‘Euphrates Monochrome Painted Ware’ (henceforth EMPW) is a ceramic style attested in the Middle Euphrates region in northern Syria at the beginning of the Early Bronze Age, ca. 2900–2700 BCE. This style is not an isolated phenomenon; rather, it must be understood in the context of a general, albeit short-lived, re-introduction of painted ceramics into local assemblages of Greater Mesopotamia. In the present study, we investigate the technology and provenance of the painted pottery from Tell el-'Abd (North Syria) and its relation to contemporary ceramics retrieved at this site. We apply a combination of macroscopic observations, ceramic petrography, and micro X-ray diffraction (…
The indigenous settlement of Monte Iato (western Sicily): an ethnoarchaeometric approach for outlining local Archaic ceramic productions
2021
AbstractAn ethnoarchaeometric approach has been followed to identify the textural and compositional characteristics of the ceramic pastes produced in ancient Iaitas/Ietas, an indigenous site located in western Sicily on Monte Iato, a few tens of kilometres from Palermo. This approach was primarily motivated by the lack of discovered Archaic kilns or production sites/workshops and the inability to identify reference groups. Raw clays were sampled in the territory of San Cipirello and San Giuseppe Iato (today’s municipalities both sited on the northern slopes of Monte Iato), together with representative historic tiles and bricks locally produced until fairly recently. Grain-size analysis and …
