Bacillus consortium positively impacts arbuscular mycorrhizal fungi community, plant phosphate nutrition and potato yield in Solanum tuberosum cv. Ja…
2022
Many agricultural soils are naturally poor in plant available phosphorus (P), although total P stocks can exceed plant requirements by more than 100-fold. The reason for such apparent contradiction is that P is complexed under organic and inorganic forms, but only free inorganic orthophosphate (Pi) ions are available to plants and soil organisms. The high immobility of Pi in soil, the low soil solution circulation associated with a rapid root absorption lead to the development of a depletion zone around the roots. As a consequence, P is frequently a limiting factor for plant growth and development.Arbuscular mycorrhizal (AM) fungi are estimated to colonize the vast majority of crop plants a…

Zinc isotopes in Late Pleistocene fossil teeth from a Southeast Asian cave setting preserve paleodietary information
2020
Significance Dietary habits, especially meat consumption, represent a key aspect in the behavior and evolution of fossil hominin species. Here, we explore zinc (Zn) isotope ratios in tooth enamel of fossil mammals. We show discrimination between different trophic levels and demonstrate that Zn isotopes could prove useful in paleodietary studies of fossil hominin, or other mammalian species, to assess their consumption of animal versus plant resources. We also demonstrate the high preservation potential of pristine diet-related Zn isotope ratios, even under tropical conditions with poor collagen preservation, such as the studied depositional context in Southeast Asia. However, assessing the …
Anza palaeoichnological site, Late Cretaceous, Morocco. Part III: Comparison between traditional and photogrammetric records
2020
11 pages; International audience; The present study evaluates a methodological workflow that could identify dinosaur tracks and trackways more comprehensively at outcrop scale. The approach described here is based both on 3D modelling by photogrammetry at different resolutions, and on suitably processed digital elevation models (DEMs). The ichnosite of Anza, Morocco, was chosen to demonstrate the efficiency of the proposed pipeline, because 323 dinosaur and pterosaur tracks discovered there have already been published. One subsector containing 89 tracks, identified in the two companion works that followed a traditional approach, was selected and divided into four subzones. By combining diff…
Exhibiting life history at the Paris Muséum d’Histoire Naturelle (nineteenth-twenty-first centuries).
2018
14 pages; International audience; The notion of a history of life has been the subject of extensive debates in France, from the turn of the nineteenth century to the dawn of the twentieth century and beyond. In this paper, I analyze how the organization of buildings and collections within the Paris National Museum of Natural History (MNHN), and their successive transformations up to the present, have reflected concepts and controversies over this history. After a brief overview of the constitution of the Museum, this chapter studies the organization of the Museum’s paleontological, zoological, and comparative anatomy collections, and the devices through which scientific ideas and debates ab…
