BACKGROUND: Inflammation may be important for accelerated progression of atherosclerosis in patients with hypertension or diabetes, but few studies included subjects with early stages of atherosclerosis such as those with asymptomatic carotid lesions. A method was developed to load the surface of a central venous catheter with silver to prevent bacterial colonization. Silver confers a broad antimicrobial activity with a relatively low risk of resistance. Catheters were incubated with a silver nitrate solution in different concentrations. The solvent, incubation temperature and incubation period were varied to examine the influence on the catheter loading. Abstract Epidermal growth factor receptor (EGFR) plays an important role in cell proliferation at non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC). Therefore, targeted therapy of cancer via this kind of receptor is highly interested. Small molecule drugs such as erlotinib and gefitinib inhibit EGFR tyrosine kinase and thus suppress cell proliferation.
