Iterative Methods for Pricing American Options under the Bates Model

We consider the numerical pricing of American options under the Bates model which adds log-normally distributed jumps for the asset value to the Heston stochastic volatility model. A linear complementarity problem (LCP) is formulated where partial derivatives are discretized using finite differences and the integral resulting from the jumps is evaluated using simple quadrature. A rapidly converging fixed point iteration is described for the LCP, where each iterate requires the solution of an LCP. These are easily solved using a projected algebraic multigrid (PAMG) method. This article examines emerging governance practices in the REDD (Reducing Emissions from Deforestation and Forest Degradation) initiative. We examine three different general governance practices (neoliberal, post-national, and government-led practices) that have been applied in the interaction between international organizations and two REDD target countries: Mozambique and Tanzania. In these countries, we find that emerging REDD+ governance practices are a mixture of international organizations’ procedural practices and the target country’s established governance practices, whereas neoliberal practices are weakly expressed. More educated, more mobile? Evidence from post-secondary education reform. Spatial Economic Analysis. This paper examines the causal impact of the level of education on within-country migration. To account for biases resulting from selection into post-secondary education, it uses a large-scale reform within the higher education system that gradually transformed former vocational colleges into polytechnics in Finland in the 1990s. This reform created quasi-exogenous variation in the supply of higher education over time and across regions. An Autonomous System to Take Angular Thermal-Infrared Measurements for Validating Satellite Products

An autonomous system for field land surface temperature (LST) measurements taken at different observation angles was developed to be deployed easily at any conventional meteorological tower station. The system permits ground-truth data to be acquired on a continuous basis, and angularly scans land and sky hemispheres with a single thermal-infrared (TIR) radiometer.
