Introduction Xanthelasma palpebrarum (XP) is a common xanthomatous lesion of the eyelid and periorbital skin. Several methods of treatment have been reported in the literature, each having its own indications and risks. We present a new treatment method for removing XP using a plasma exeresis device (Plexr®, GMV, Italy). Methods Fifteen patients with a total of 27 treated XPs were assessed and clinically identified by the treating dermatologist. There is scarcity of information about the hemorheological pattern in subjects with Monoclonal Gammopathy of Undetermined Significance (MGUS). This preliminary research is focused on the behaviour of whole-blood and plasma viscosity, haematocrit and erythrocyte deformability in the above clinical condition. We enrolled 21 MGUS subjects (10 women and 11 men; mean age 66.4 ± 11.6 years). Myeloperoxidase (MPO) is an important oxidative enzyme participating in different stages of cardiovascular disease and predicts prognosis. Little is known about its role in acute cerebrovascular events and carotid plaque vulnerability. INTRODUCTION: The aim of this naturalistic exploratory study was to examine whether blood antipsychotic drug concentrations can predict rehospitalizations in chronically medicated patients. METHODS: The study included schizophrenic outpatients under clozapine (CLZ) maintenance treatment, supervised by therapeutic drug monitoring (TDM). Patients were observed for a period of 21 months. The objective of this paper was to characterize the disposition phase of AM in rats, after different high doses and modalities of i.v. administration. Three fitting programs, WINNONLIN, ADAPT II and NONMEM were employed. The two-stage fitting methods led to different results, none of which can adequately explain amiodarone's behaviour, although a great amount of data per subject is available. The influence of the anti-prolactin bromocriptine on plasma kinetics, production rate and tissue uptake of testosterone was investigated in 15 patients with newly diagnosed stages C and D prostatic carcinoma. Bromocriptine was given for 5 days in a daily dose of 15 mg. orally. The studies were performed with the single injection technique using the 2-compartment model. Plasma testosterone, serum prolactin, and luteinizing and follicle-stimulating hormones were determined initially. Blood samples were drawn up to 5 hours after the injection of 3H-testosterone.
