Role of information backflow in the emergence of quantum Darwinism

Quantum Darwinism attempts to explain the emergence of objective reality of the state of a quantum system in terms of redundant information about the system acquired by independent non interacting fragments of the environment. The consideration of interacting environmental elements gives rise to a rich phenomenology, including the occurrence of non-Markovian features, whose effects on objectification {\it a' la} quantum Darwinism needs to be fully understood. The Peregrine breather of order nine and its deformations with sixteen parameters solutions to the NLS equation

Abstract We construct new deformations of the Peregrine breather ( P 9 ) of order 9 with 16 real parameters. With this method, we obtain explicitly new families of quasi-rational solutions to the NLS equation in terms of a product of an exponential depending on t by a ratio of two polynomials of degree 90 in x and t; when all the parameters are equal to 0, we recover the classical P 9 breather. We construct new patterns of different types of rogue waves as triangular configurations of 45 peaks as well as rings and concentric rings.
Adiabatic approximation for quantum dissipative systems: formulation, topology and superadiabatic tracking

A generalized adiabatic approximation is formulated for a two-state dissipative Hamiltonian which is valid beyond weak dissipation regimes. The history of the adiabatic passage is described by superadiabatic bases as in the nondissipative regime. The topology of the eigenvalue surfaces shows that the population transfer requires, in general, a strong coupling with respect to the dissipation rate. We present, furthermore, an extension of the Davis-Dykhne-Pechukas formula to the dissipative regime using the formalism of Stokes lines. Processes of population transfer by an external frequency-chirped pulse-shaped field are given as examples.
Proton-neutron correlations and the longitudinal nuclear response

We study the influence of the proton-neutron correlations, in particular of the tensor ones, on the longitudinal nuclear response. They generate a high-energy tail that we evaluate. We show that this tail produces an apparent quenching of the Coulomb sum rule. The amount of quenching found is significant, although insufficient to explain the totality of the missing strength.

Rational solutions to the KPI equation and multi rogue waves

Abstract We construct here rational solutions to the Kadomtsev–Petviashvili equation (KPI) as a quotient of two polynomials in x , y and t depending on several real parameters. This method provides an infinite hierarchy of rational solutions written in terms of polynomials of degrees 2 N ( N + 1 ) in x , y and t depending on 2 N − 2 real parameters for each positive integer N . We give explicit expressions of the solutions in the simplest cases N = 1 and N = 2 and we study the patterns of their modulus in the ( x , y ) plane for different values of time t and parameters.
Open questions about homogeneous fluid dynamos: The VKS experiment

International audience; We consider several problems that arise in the context of homogeneous fluid dynamos such as the effect of turbulence on the dynamo threshold, the saturation level of the generated magnetic field above the threshold and its dynamics. We compare some of our predictions with the recent experimental results of the Karlsruhe and Riga experiments. Finally, we present the VKS experiment that we have designed to answer some of the remaining open questions. We study, in particular, the response of a turbulent flow to an external magnetic field.
Energy and frequency dependence of the alpha particle redistribution produced by internal kink modes

International audience; The redistribution of alpha particles due to internal kink modes is studied. The exact particle trajectories in the total fields, equilibrium plus perturbation, are calculated. The equilibrium has circular cross section and the plasma parameters are similar to those expected in ITER. The alpha particles are initially distributed according to a slowing down distribution function and have energies between 18 keV and 3.5 MeV. The (1, 1), (2, 2), and (2, 1) modes are included and the effect of changing their amplitude and frequency is studied. Pressure Shift and Gravitational Red Shift of Balmer Lines in White Dwarfs. Rediscussion

The Stark-induced shift and asymmetry, the so-called pressure shift (PS) of $H_\alpha$ and $H_\beta$ Balmer lines in spectra of DA white dwarfs (WDs), as masking effects in measurements of the gravitational red shift in WDs, have been examined in detail. The results are compared with our earlier ones from before a quarter of a century (Grabowski et al. 1987, hereafter ApJ'87; Madej and Grabowski 1990). In these earlier papers, as a dominant constituent of the Balmer-line-profiles, the standard, symmetrical Stark line profiles, shifted as the whole by PS-effect, were applied to all spectrally active layers of the WD atmosphere.
