In hyperandrogenic women, several phenotypes may be observed. This includes women with classic polycystic ovary syndrome (C-PCOS), those with ovulatory (OV) PCOS, and women with idiopathic hyperandrogenism (IHA), which occurs in women with normal ovaries. Where other causes have been excluded, we categorized 290 hyperandrogenic women who were seen consecutively for this complaint between 1993 and 2004 into these three subgroups. Abstract Skin resurfacing for cutaneous rejuvenation has evolved with the development of a plethora of nonsurgical and minimally invasive modalities. We have highlighted the advances in laser therapy, chemical peels, radiofrequency, microneedling, and platelet-rich plasma therapy. We have also included studies providing head-to-head comparisons between procedures and discussed relevant debates in the field. We have examined additionally combination treatments and resurfacing in acne scars, melasma, and skin of color.

Background. Anticoagulant therapy, the cornerstone treatment in acute venous thromboembolism (VTE), strongly impacts thrombin generation (TG). Until now, the appearance of the TG curve in platelet rich plasma (PRP) from patients with acute VTE has not been investigated. Methods. We analyzed the shape of TG curves measured in PARP of 180 acute VTE patients. Results. Purpose: Plasmalogens are particular phospholipids characterized by the presence of a vinyl-ether bond and of a polyunsaturated fatty acid (PUFA) at sn-1 and sn-2 positions of glycerol, respectively. Even if the plasmalogen content of organs and tissues is well documented, their biological functions are still enigmatic.
