Two-phase dielectric polar structures in 0.1NBT-0.6ST-0.3PT solid solutions

Abstract In this work we address the peculiarities of the macroscopic responses in ternary 0.1Na0·5Bi0·5TiO3-0.6SrTiO3-0.3PbTiO3 (0.1NBT-0.6ST-0.3PT) solid solutions. These solid solutions exhibit a spontaneous first order relaxor to normal ferroelectric phase transition. The phase transition is accompanied by a broad dielectric relaxation which expands over 10 orders of magnitude in frequency just above the phase transition temperature. The temperature dependence of polarization shows that non-zero net polarization persists above the phase transition temperature. Controlled radical polymerization of alkyl acrylates and styrene using a half-sandwich molybdenum(III) complex containing diazadiene ligands

Abstract The half-sandwich molybdenum(III) complex CpMoCl 2 ( i Pr 2 -dad) ( i Pr 2 -dad= i Pr–NCH–CHN– i Pr) proved to be an effective metal catalyst for the controlled radical polymerization of methyl acrylate, butyl acrylate, and styrene. In conjunction with an alkyl iodide [R–I: CH 3 CH(COOEt)I] as an initiator and in the presence or absence of Al(O– i -Pr) 3 as a co-catalyst, the molybdenum-based system gave polymers with narrow molecular weight distributions. The in situ addition of styrene to a macroinitiator of poly(methylacrylate) afforded an AB-type block copolymer.

Abstract This article explores in detail the reactions among American economists to John Bates Clark's famously controversial claim that the marginal productivity theory of factor pricing and distribution is necessarily just. The general debate around Clark's “naïve productivity ethics,” as George Stigler sharply called it, transcended the then existing distinctions within the discipline and involved figures of virtually all theoretical and ideological persuasions—from prolabor progressives such as Richard T. Abstract The effect of compatibilization with a symmetrical polystyrene- block -polybutadiene- block -poly(methyl methacrylate) (SBM) triblock terpolymer on the morphological and mechanical properties (specifically toughness) of immiscible poly(2,6-dimethyl-1,4-phenylene ether)/poly(styrene- co -acrylonitrile) (PPE/SAN) blends with different blend (w/w) ratios is investigated. Abstract Hyperbranched polyethylenimine (HPEI) was successfully employed as precursor for the preparation of unimolecular inverted and aqueous micelles. The unimolecular inverted micelles (UIMs) obtained by the amidation of HPEI with 1,1′-carbonyldiimidazole (CDI) activated palmitic acid exhibited high encapsulation efficiency for hydrophilic anionic dyes and the efficiency could be enhanced significantly by decreasing the degree of amidation or quaternizing the residual amines. Biodegradable hyperbranched polyether-lipids with in-chain pH-sensitive linkages

Hyperbranched polyether-based lipids with cleavable acetal units were obtained via copolymerization of the epoxide inimer 1-(glycidyloxy)ethyl ethylene glycol ether (GEGE) and glycidol, using anionic ring-opening polymerization. Cholesterol-linear polyglycerol (Ch-linPG) was used as a macroinitiator, resulting in branched polyethers with an adjustable amount of acid-cleavable units. Random copolymerization led to Ch-P(GEGEx-co-Gy) copolymers, whereas sequential copolymerization provided access to Ch-P(GEGEx-b-Gy) amphiphiles. In the first part new monoaminodiacetylenes with different numbers of CH2-groups, the formation of Perowskit-type Mn complexes and their polymerizability are described. Symmetrical diaminodiacetylenes and some derivatives therefrom have also been prepared. The second part deals with different types of polymers with diacetylene units in the backbone. Under irradiation color formation and crosslinking take place. Well-defined low molecular weight model compounds of polydiacetylenes is the subject of the third part. Finally rod-like but soluble polymers with alternating p-phenylene and acetylene units are described.
Liquid/Gas and Liquid/Liquid Phase Behavior of n-Butane/1,4-Polybutadiene versus n-Butane/1,2-Polybutadiene

Solutions of 1,4-polybutadiene (1,4-PB, 98% cis) and of 1,2-polybutadiene (1,2-PB) in n-butane (n-C 4 ) were studied with respect to their vapor pressure and to their demixing into two liquid phases under isochoric conditions within the temperature range from 25 to 75 °C. 1,2-PB mixes homogeneously with n-C 4 at any ratio, in contrast to 1,4-PB, which exhibits a miscibility gap extending from practically pure solvent to approximately 40 wt % polymer. Corresponding to these solubility differences, the vapor pressures for the system n-C 4 /1,4-PB are considerably higher than for n-C 4 /1,2-PB at the same concentration and temperature. The aim of this study was to investigate drug release from calcium and zinc pectinate beads and to understand the impact of medium electrolytes during drug transfer. A potential drug carrier for colonic drug delivery (rutin) was prepared with calcium and zinc pectinate beads and was tested in three different simulated intestinal fluids (pH 7.3) with phosphates (Sorensen’s and Mc Ilvaine’s buffers) and without phosphates (Tris-buffer). The influences of nanoparticle size and concentration on the thermodynamic behaviour of epoxy/polystyrene blends are evaluated in the framework of Ginzburg's simple analytical theory. Two approaches have been employed: NPEPO (for particles coated with epoxy groups) and NPFEN (for particles coated with phenyl groups). Using NPEPO, the particles are found to prefer the phase richer in epoxy, whereas the opposite occurs for NPFEN. The particles size significantly influences blend compatibility.
