La inscripción de la ciudadanía en la cuba neocolonial (1902-1919) : Sucinta referencia histórico-jurídica
2021
This historical-legal account brieflycovering 17 years of civil registration activity carried out during the neocolonial period by Municipal Judges and Secretaries, specifically that related to registration of Cuban citizens)becomes considerably relevant to understand and to godeeper into the origins of this complex process, as well asto achieve a re-encounter with the history of those who passed through those times, currently a hidden history in the shadows of Civil Registration offices, but still alive and thus allowing us to find all the beauty that there was in it.
Thermodynamic and spectroscopic study of the binding of dimethyltin(IV) by citrate at 25°C
2006
Thermodynamic (potentiometric and calorimetric) and spectroscopic ( 1 H NMR, 119 Sn Mossbauer) studies were performed in aqueous solution in order to characterize the interaction of dimethyltin(IV) cation with citrate ligand. Six species {(CH 3 ) 2 Sn(cit) - ; [(CH 3 ) 2 Sn] 2 (cit) 2 2- ; (CH 3 ) 2 Sn(cit)H 0 ; (CH 3 ) 2 Sn(cit)OH 2- ; [(CH 3 ) 2 Sn] 2 (cit)OH 0 ; [(CH 3 ) 2 Sn] 2 (cit)(OH) 2 - } were found. All the species formed in this system are quite stable and formation percentages are fairly high. For example, at pH = 7.5 and C (CH3)2Sn = C cit = 10 mmol l -1 , E% for [(CH 3 ) 2 Sn] 2 (cit)(OH) 2 - and (CH 3 ) 2 Sn(cit)OH 2- species reaches 65%. Overall thermodynamic parameters obta…
A Theoretical and Experimental Investigation of the Spectroscopic Properties of a DNA-Intercalator Salphen-Type ZnIIComplex
2014
The photophysical and DNA-binding properties of the cationic zinc(II) complex of 5-triethylammonium methyl salicylidene ortho-phenylenediiminato (ZnL 2 + ) were investi- gated by a combination of experimental and theoretical methods. DFT calculations were performed on both the ground and the first excited states of ZnL 2 + and on its possi- ble mono- and dioxidation products, both in vacuo and in selected solvents mimicked by the polarizable continuum model. Comparison of the calculated absorption and fluores- cence transitions with the corresponding experimental data led to the conclusion that visible light induces a two-elec- tron photooxidation process located on the phenylenediimi- nato…
Octopus, a computational framework for exploring light-driven phenomena and quantum dynamics in extended and finite systems
2020
Over the last few years, extraordinary advances in experimental and theoretical tools have allowed us to monitor and control matter at short time and atomic scales with a high degree of precision. An appealing and challenging route toward engineering materials with tailored properties is to find ways to design or selectively manipulate materials, especially at the quantum level. To this end, having a state-of-the-art ab initio computer simulation tool that enables a reliable and accurate simulation of light-induced changes in the physical and chemical properties of complex systems is of utmost importance. The first principles real-space-based Octopus project was born with that idea in mind,…
Understanding the Interactions of Guanine Quadruplexes with Peptides as Novel Strategies for Diagnosis or Tuning Biological Functions
2023
Guanine quadruplexes (G4s) are nucleic acid structures exhibiting a complex structural behavior and exerting crucial biological functions, in both cells and viruses. The specific interactions of peptides with G4s, as well as the understanding of the factors driving the specific recognition, are important for the rational design of both therapeutic and diagnostic agents. In the present minireview, we examine the most important studies dealing with the interactions between G4s and peptides, highlighting the strengths and limitations of the present analytic approaches. We also show how the combined use of high-level molecular simulation techniques and experimental spectroscopy represents the b…
Molecular and supramolecular structures of self-assembled Cu(II) and Co(II) complexes with 4,4’-[6-(3,5-dimethyl-1H-pyrazol-1-yl)-1,3,5-triazine-2,4-…
2020
The molecular and supramolecular structures of [Cu(PTM)Cl2]*0.75MeOH (1), [Co(PTM)Cl2]; (2A) and [Co(PTM)Cl2(EtOH)]; (2B) complexes, where PTM is 4,4’-[6-(3,5-dimethyl-1H-pyrazol-1-yl)-1,3,5-triazine-2,4-diyl]dimorpholine, were presented. In complexes 1 and 2A, the Cu(II) and Co(II) are tetra-coordinated with a distorted tetrahedral coordination environment. In case of complex 2B, an additional ethanol molecule is found coordinated with Co(II) leading to a highly distorted penta-coordinated Co(II) complex. In all cases, the PTM ligand is acting as a bidentate NN-chelate. Hirshfeld surface analysis indicated the importance of H⋯H (49.0–55.1%), Cl⋯H (18.8–20.5%) and O⋯H (8.3–9.9%) contacts in…
Influence of a flexibility training program on psychophysical health of elderly women
2014
Aim: The aim of this study was to assess the influence of a specific flexibility training program on the spinal health status and the health-related quality of life (HRQoL) in female older subjects. Methods: Thirty older women were recruited in a senior centre of Palermo and randomly assigned in two groups: trained group [TG] (n: 17; age: 68.35±6.04 years; BMI: 27.28±3.08) and control group [CG] (n: 13; age: 69.69±7.94 years; BMI: 27.88±2.81). TG was trained for 8 weeks by two sessions/week. In particular, every training session included three phases: warm up (~10 min), central period (~50 min) including specific exercises to train spinal flexibility, and cool down (~10 min)1. CG did not pe…
BENDAMUSTINE IN ASSOCIATION WITH RITUXIMAB AS SALVAGE THERAPY FOR SPLENIC MARGINAL ZONE LYMPHOMA
2010
At present, a prospectively validated treatment for SMZL is lacking. Despite this fact, splenectomy is still deemed to be the best choice for patients requiring treatment. Nevertheless, the high fraction of patients achieving a clinical response following splenectomy eventually relapses or progresses
Effects of High-Definition Anodal Transcranial Direct Current Stimulation Applied Simultaneously to Both Primary Motor Cortices on Bimanual Sensorimo…
2017
Many daily activities, such as tying one’s shoe laces, opening a jar of jam or performing a free throw in basketball, require the skillful coordinated use of both hands. Even though the non-invasive method of transcranial direct current stimulation (tDCS) has been repeatedly shown to improve unimanual motor performance, little is known about its effects on bimanual motor performance. More knowledge about how tDCS may improve bimanual behavior would be relevant to motor recovery, e.g., in persons with bilateral impairment of hand function. We therefore examined the impact of high-definition anodal tDCS (HD-atDCS) on the performance of a bimanual sequential sensorimotor task. Thirty-two volun…
Sport e soggetti fragili: tra ordinamento sportivo, tutele civilistiche e libertà costituzionali
2023
The paper analyzes the evolution of sporting activity for disabled people, focusing in particular on the problems concerning the performance of risky sporting activities by people with mental disabilities; these problems per- tain to the relationship between the protection of health understood as the interest of the community and the protection of health understood as the right to the pursuit of happiness, which also involve the question of the limits to the acts of disposing of one's body, and which are resolved through a continuous dialogue between the sports system and the state system.
