Artikkelissa raportoidaan tuloksia työttömien työnhakijoiden taloudellisten kannusteiden kehittymisestä ja työllistymisestä. Tilastoaineisto kattaa vuodet 2001–2014 ja se on rajattu seitsemään suureen seutukuntaan, joiden työvoima muodostaa puolet Suomen työmarkkinoista. Tilastoaineistoon perustuvien laskelmien mukaan taloudelliset kannusteet työllistymiseen olivat korkeimmillaan vuosina 2008–2009, jonka jälkeen ne ovat laskeneet liki yhtäjaksoisesti vuoteen 2014 asti. This study examined the role of welfare services in the participative citizenship of young people under 30 years of age outside the labour market. Thematic content analysis of the government’s white papers regarding participation policies, as well as participatory action research projects in two Finnish towns, were used to identify factors that enable or hinder participation for this group of service users. This article analyses two literary representations - by Daniel Defoe and Sir Walter Scott - of the career of an early-18th century Orkney pirate in order to confront the contemporary view of John Gow as an unprincipled cutthroat with later literary images of a Romantic corsair. It therefore examines evolving literary approaches in the period to socially transgressive behaviour.
Hydro-mechanical modelling of a natural slope affected by a multiple slip surface failure mechanism

A coupled hydro-mechanical formulation is presented for the analysis of landslide motion during crisis episodes. The mathematical formulation is used to model a natural slope affected by a multiple slip surface failure mechanism, in which pore water pressure evolution was identified as the main cause for movement accelerations. An elasto-plastic constitutive model is adopted for the behaviour of slip surfaces. Material parameters are obtained by combining the available laboratory tests and the back analysis of some crisis episodes.
