2020

Introduction: Developing community care models aims to satisfy the needs of patients’ in-home care comprehensively. This is crucial to decrease adverse events and prevent rehospitalization. Methods: A cross-sectional study was conducted among 200 emergency department patients (EDPs) and 200 general practice patients (GPPs). The modified version of the Camberwell Assessment of Need Short Appraisal Schedule (CANSAS), the Health Behavior Inventory (HBI), the Generalized Self-Efficacy Scale (GSES), the Patient Satisfaction Questionnaire (PSQ), and the Multidimensional Health Locus of Control Scale (MHLCS) were used. Health care delivery for minor migrants and refugees in EU: gaps in the knowledge and expertise of health care providers

2021

Introduction Childhood care by its nature requires the integration of nurturing and protective services [1]. Furthermore, a lack of appropriate resources tackling the specific needs of migrants and refugees has put pressure on health care services [2]. In this regard, the European project EUVETCARE qualitatively explores how to strengthen care delivery for child migrants and refugees. Methods Between April and May of 2019, a total of 99 professionals involved in the health and social care delivery for migrant minors as well as policy-makers participated in fifteen focus groups were carried out in 5 EU countries (Greece, Italy, Spain, Cyprus and Germany). Rationing in a Pandemic: Lessons from Italy.

2020

In late February and early March 2020, Italy became the European epicenter of the COVID-19 pandemic. Despite increasingly stringent containment measures enforced by the government, the health system faced an enormous pressure, and extraordinary efforts were made in order to increase overall hospital beds’ availability and especially ICU capacity. Nevertheless, the hardest-hit hospitals in Northern Italy experienced a shortage of ICU beds and resources that led to hard allocating choices. At the beginning of March 2020, the Italian Society of Anesthesia, Analgesia, Resuscitation, and Intensive Care (SIAARTI) issued recommendations aimed at supporting physicians in prioritizing patients when …

Re-Thinking the Use of Conscientious Objection by Health Professionals: A Regulatory Proposal Based on Legal Abortion Practices in Argentina

2019

“Ninety percent of health-care practitioners will not perform abortions,” warned physicians in Chaco, a province in north-eastern Argentina, during the debate in Argentina’s Senate to extend the legalization of abortion in July 2018. Around this same time, in a nearby province, Misiones, every physician in one hospital declared that they would register as conscientious objectors should the legislation prove successful. Just a few days earlier, Argentina’s press reported that more than 200 girls had been raped and forced to give birth in Misiones, without access to legal abortion under the rape indication. In Argentina abortion is legally permitted in cases where a pregnancy presents a risk …

Conceptual changes in lease accounting: Regulatory and academic challenges

2019

Social research evolution in management accounting : reflection using Bunge’s theory

2004

Abstract Actually Management Accounting is considered for an important group of researchers as a social science. This is a consequence of an evolution from an economic view to social-oriented perspectives. Following Mario Bunge’s theory, we establish that break point in 1980s. Until 1980s, the accounting research was dominated by an economic analysis with both utilitarian and cognitive objectives. The scientific growth was in surface , without any relevant change in the foundations of Management Accounting. The development of new concerns regarding social implications promotes a growth in-depth in the 1980s. Socio-economic analysis, both in interpretative and critical research, is developed…

Governmental Accounting in Spain and the European Monetary Union: A Critical Perspective

2000

During the last twenty-five years, the changes in Spanish accounting have been radical and significant, especially since 1986 when Spain joined the European Union. Those changes were first introduced in business accounting, following the patterns of the Fourth Directive, but governmental accounting has also been affected by structural reforms that have modified the financial reporting system, the accounting standards and the accounting principles to be applied. However, the governmental accounting system needs further improvement, particularly given the EMU framework and the relationship between governmental accounting and national accounting.
