High resistance against clindamycin, metronidazole and amoxicillin in Porphyromonas gingivalis and Aggregatibacter actinomycetemcomitans isolates of …
2010
Objectives: To test the antimicrobial sensitivity of two periodontal pathogens to a panel of five orally administrable antibiotics in periodontal disease. Study design: A total of 69 isolates of Aggregatibacter actinomycetemcomitans and Porphyromonas gingivalis were processed using culture and biochemical tests. Selected colonies of A. actinomycetemcomitans and P. gingivalis were used to evaluate the antibacterial activity of clindamycin, metronidazole, amoxicillin, moxifloxacin and amoxicillin/clavulanic acid. Results: Susceptibility testing revealed a sensitivity of 100% of A. actinomycetemcomitans and P. gingivalis to moxifloxacin and amoxicillin/clavulanic acid but moderate susceptibili…

Identification of metalloporphyrins extracted from the copper bearing black shale of fore sudetic monocline (Poland)
2006
Abstract Metalloporphyrins were isolated from copper-bearing black shale ores. The shale originates from the Lubin copper mine (Poland). The porphyrins have been extracted by way of a Soxhlet apparatus, and then purified using column chromatography. In order to identify the extracted porphyrins complexes UV–Vis, mass spectrometry and EPR analytical techniques have been used.
Cyclotriveratrylene-Containing Porphyrins
2016
International audience; The C-3-symmetric cyclotriveratrylene (CTV) was covalently bonded via click chemistry to 1, 2, 3, and 6 zinc(II) porphyrin units to various host for C-60. The binding constants, Ka, were measured from the quenching of the porphyrin fluorescence by C-60. These constants vary between 400 and 4000 M-1 and are considered weak. Computer modeling demonstrated that the zinc(II) porphyrin units, [Zn], exhibit a strong tendency to occupy the CTV cavity, hence blocking the access for C-60 to land on this site. Instead, the pincer of the type [Zn]-[Zn] and in one case [Zn]-CTV, were found to be the most probable geometry to promote host-guest associations in these systems.

1,3-Dipolar cycloadditions with meso-tetraarylchlorins – site selectivity and mixed bisadducts
2017
The 1,3-dipolar cycloaddition reaction of meso-tetraarylporphyrins with nitrones gives isoxazolidine-fused chlorins. Depending on the substitution pattern on the meso-aryl groups and the nitrone, the chlorins can be obtained in high yields (up to 91%). Bacteriochlorin-type bisadducts are also obtained, although in low yield, from the reaction of meso-tetrakis(pentafluorophenyl)porphyrin with N-methyl, N-cyclohexyl or N-benzyl nitrone. The structure of a bis(N-benzyl isoxazolidine-fused) bacteriochlorin was determined by single-crystal X-ray diffraction and rationalized by DFT calculations. To further explore the nature of site selectivity in the formation of bisadducts, isomeric mixed bacte…
Heterocycle-appended porphyrins: synthesis and challenges
2020
Abstract Porphyrin and their versatile metal complexes represent a special class of coordination compounds possessing unique physical-chemical properties. The achievements in the development of the synthetic approaches for the modification of the porphyrin macrocycle allowed the preparation of a variety of functional derivatives for diverse applications. Among a broad diversity of synthetically available metalloporphyrins meso-substituted tetrapyrroles are comprehensively investigated. However, β-substituted porphyrins could be considered as the most suitable models for mimicking the key roles of naturally occurring dyes in vital processes. The introduction of various substituents to the β-…
A new class of ZnIIand CrIIIporphyrins incorporated into porous polymer matrices via an atmospheric pressure plasma enhanced CVD to form gas sensing …
2014
Designed ZnII and CrIII porphyrins (ZnIIP, CrIIIP(Cl)(H2O)) and conventional ZnIITPP and CrIIITPP(Cl)(H2O) are immobilized into porous polysiloxane films via chemical vapor deposition enhanced by an atmospheric pressure dielectric barrier discharge. UV/vis spectroscopy and mass spectrometry prove the integrity of the chromophores after the plasma treatment. The optical amine sensing capabilities of the films are investigated spectroscopically on exposure to triethylamine vapors. A series of coatings with different porphyrin loadings indicate influences of the deposition conditions on the growth of the sensing films and hence the device performance. Additionally, the synthesis and characteri…
Fine tuning of the catalytic effect of a metal-free porphyrin on the homogeneous oxygen reduction.
2011
The catalytic effect of tetraphenylporphyrin on the oxygen reduction with ferrocene in 1,2-dichloroethane can be finely tuned by varying the molar ratio of the acid to the catalyst present in the solution. The mechanism involves binding of molecular oxygen to the protonated free porphyrin base, in competition with ion pairing between the protonated base and the acid anion present.
Alkyl- and aryl-substituted corroles. 5. Synthesis, physicochemical properties, and X-ray structural characterization of copper biscorroles and porph…
2004
The synthesis and characterization of cofacial copper biscorroles and porphyrin-corroles linked by a biphenylenyl or anthracenyl spacer are described. The investigated compounds are represented as (BCA)Cu(2) and (BCB)Cu(2) in the case of the biscorrole (BC) derivatives and (PCA)Cu(2) and (PCB)Cu(2) in the case of porphyrin (P)-corrole (C) dyads, where A and B represent the anthracenyl and biphenylenyl bridges, respectively. A related monomeric corrole (Me(4)Ph(5)Cor)Cu and monomeric porphyrin (Me(2)Et(6)PhP)Cu that comprise the two halves of the porphyrin-corrole dyads were also studied. Electron spin resonance (ESR), (1)H NMR, and magnetic measurements data demonstrate that the copper corr…
