Variation in the Sizes of Chthamalid Barnacle Post-Settlement Cyprids on European Shores

As part of a wider study on the settlement and recruitment of Chthamalus spp. in Europe, this study investigated whether chthamalid cyprids can be separated by length on a European scale. Variation in cyprid length with latitude and temporal variation at selected localities were also examined. The lengths of cyprids collected between 1996-1999 on nine rocky shores in Europe are reported. Elminius modestus cyprids were found only at Roscoff, NW France and could be distinguished due to their Carapace shape and length. This paper investigates the typology of the Portuguese public wash-houses that represents a very important sanitary aid and a space of social aggregation. More particularly, the most common features of such a typology will be outlined: architectural configuration, materials and technology, constructive characteristics, hydraulic equipment, historical evolution. These simple but highly functional little buildings are spread across the whole country and had been extremely important for the population since the middle age. Esta tesis aborda la correspondencia escrita cifrada utilizada por Isabel de Portugal y Carlos V, junto con otros embajadores durante la monarquía de Carlos V. Incluye la edición de las cartas cifradas durante la regencia de la emperatriz, el estudio de las características de estas cartas y la reconstrucción de 38 cifrarios entre 1530 y 1540. El presente trabajo de investigación está basado en la transcripción y edición del inventario de bienes de la reina y emperatriz Isabel de Portugal que se conserva en el Archivo General de Simancas cuya signatura es Archivo General de Simancas (AGS), PTR, leg. 30 doc. 19. Y tiene por título: El inventario de joyas, plata y recámara de la emperatriz que el emperador mandó repartir entre sus hijos y sus hijuelas. Se va a realizar la edición y el estudio lexicográfico de todos los bienes y objetos que se encuentran en la recámara de la reina, agrupándolos en campos concretos, tanto en su espacio público como privado, como los aposentos de la reina, la capilla, biblioteca, vestuario y decoració…
