Comprehensive Modeling and Experimental Testing of Fault Detection and Management of a Nonredundant Fault-Tolerant VSI
2015
This paper presents an investigation and a comprehensive analysis on fault operations in a conventional three-phase voltage source inverter. After an introductory section dealing with power converter reliability and fault analysis issues in power electronics, a generalized switching function accounting for both healthy and faulty conditions and an easy and feasible method to embed fault diagnosis and reconfiguration within the control algorithm are introduced. The proposed system has simple and compact implementation. Experimental results operating both at open- and closed-loop current control, obtained using a test bench realized using a dSPACE system and the fault-tolerant inverter protot…
A linear generator for a waveroller power device
2017
In this paper experimental tests on a small scale tubular linear generator to be applied to wave rollers device are presented. A reduced scale of gnerator is presented and experimental results obtained in on test bench are shown. Experimental waveforms of current and voltage are recorded. Simulation results are compared to the experimental ones in order to validate the mathematical models used.
Real time monitoring of water level and temperature in storage fuel pools through optical fibre sensors
2017
AbstractWe present an innovative architecture of a Rayleigh-based optical fibre sensor for the monitoring of water level and temperature inside storage nuclear fuel pools. This sensor, able to withstand the harsh constraints encountered under accidental conditions such as those pointed-out during the Fukushima-Daiichi event (temperature up to 100 °C and radiation dose level up to ~20 kGy), exploits the Optical Frequency Domain Reflectometry technique to remotely monitor a radiation resistant silica-based optical fibre i.e. its sensing probe. We validate the efficiency and the robustness of water level measurements, which are extrapolated from the temperature profile along the fibre length, …
Interior Permanent Magnet Synchronous Machine Drive Powered by Fuel Cell for Automotive Applications
2020
Electric vehicles represent an optimal solution for the reduction of pollution in urban areas. In particular, the Fuel Cell (FC) technology is a promising solution especially for its charging times and zero CO2 direct emissions. The paper addresses the design and performance study of an Interior Permanent Magnet Synchronous Machine (IPMSM) drive powered by fuel cell for automotive applications. The IPMSM drive is powered by the use of 5,5 kW FC unit and it is composed of two DC-DC power converters and one inverter. In detail, a test bench has been carried out for the evaluation of the performances of each IPMSM drive conversion stage. Moreover, in order to simulate automotive working condit…
Within and Beyond Postmodernism: Oppositional Remediating Strategies in Jeanette Winterson’s The Power Book
2016
Informed by interconnected theoretical approaches, the paper aims to illustrate the ways in which Jeanette Winterson’s The PowerBook (2000), while drawing on specific postmodern ideological elaborations and writing techniques – among which remediation, in the sense of multiple transcodifications, plays a major role –, simultaneously distances itself from the apolitical dilution of meanings which underlies postmodern conceptualizations and identity models. As far as sexual politics is concerned, the essay demonstrates that the sense of plurality and multiplicity in the novel suggests new creative ways of identity re-invention through conscious self-fashioning.
Ultreya, suseya, Santiago!” Viaggio e spazialità ne La ballata dei pellegrini
2020
User Grouping and Power Allocation in NOMA Systems: A Reinforcement Learning-Based Solution
2020
In this paper, we present a pioneering solution to the problem of user grouping and power allocation in Non-Orthogonal Multiple Access (NOMA) systems. There are two fundamentally salient and difficult issues associated with NOMA systems. The first involves the task of grouping users together into the pre-specified time slots. The subsequent second phase augments this with the solution of determining how much power should be allocated to the respective users. We resolve this with the first reported Reinforcement Learning (RL)-based solution, which attempts to solve the partitioning phase of this issue. In particular, we invoke the Object Migration Automata (OMA) and one of its variants to re…
The power of procrastination in inductive inference: How it depends on used ordinal notations
1995
We consider inductive inference with procrastination. Usually it is defined using constructive ordinals. For constructive ordinals there exist many different systems of notations. In this paper we study how the power of inductive inference depends on used system of notations.
