A 39-year-old man presented to the emergency department (ED) of the ‘‘Paolo Giaccone’’ Academic Hospital, Palermo (Italy). He had anterior chest pain that did not radiate to the neck or arms. The patient came from home where the chest pain initiated. The patient was morbidly obese (BMI 54 kg/m). At the ED, the patient’s blood pressure was 120/80 mmHg, the serum troponin I concentration was 0.029 ng/ml (normal values \ 0.034, borderline 0.034–0.12), myoglobin 45 ng/ml (normal values \ 120). Aim:Toxoplasma gondii infection during pregnancy poses a serious risk to the fetus, therefore timely and accurate diagnosis is essential. The aim of this study was to estimate the frequency of congenital infection via evaluating mother's immunological status and the possibility to improving the diagnostic and therapeutic approaches.Methods:Eighty five mothers with Toxoplasma seroconversion and their offspring were enrolled (among them, 2 spontaneous abortions were documented in the first trimester). We recently showed that the Vnn1 gene is a PPARalpha target gene in liver and that release of the Vanin-1 pantetheinase in serum is a biomarker of PPARalpha activation. Purpose: To investigate the effect of applying an additional suture to enhance the biomechanical behavior of the suture–meniscus construct used during the transtibial pull- out repair technique. Methods: A total of 20 fresh-frozen porcine tibiae with intact medial menisci were used. In one half of all speci- mens (N = 10), two non-absorbable sutures were passed directly over the meniscal root from the tibia side of the meniscus to the femoral side (2SS).
