Contribution of a new dynamic climate regionalization protocol for estimating the water balance of Douglas-fir forests

Quantifying the regionalized impacts of climate change on forests is a major ecologicaland socio-economic issue. The decline of Douglas-fir (Pseudotsuga menziesii) has been observed forabout 20 years and should be accelered. Recent work shows that regionalized estimation of waterbalance under forest canopy is hampered by the ability of regional climate models to correctlysimulate precipitation amount and seasonal cycle. Here we evaluate the ability of a new climateregionalization protocol to simulate a realistic precipitation regime required for the calculation offorest soil water balance.

Dystonia, a debilitating neurological movement disorder, is characterized by involuntary muscle contractions and develops from a complex pathophysiology. Graph theoretical analysis approaches have been employed to investigate functional network changes in patients with different forms of dystonia. In this study, we aimed to characterize the abnormal brain connectivity underlying writer's cramp, a focal hand dystonia. As part of the Modular Earth Submodel System (MESSy), the Multi-Model-Driver (MMD v1.0) was developed to couple online the regional Consortium for Small-scale Modeling (COSMO) model into a driving model, which can be either the regional COSMO model or the global European Centre Hamburg general circulation model (ECHAM) (see Part 2 of the model documentation). In Finland, the National Core Curriculum for Basic Education is supposed to ensure equal opportunity for enrollment to upper secondary education by defining the learning objectives for each school subject at the end of basic education. Feature selection for distance-based regression: An umbrella review and a one-shot wrapper

Feature selection (FS) may improve the performance, cost-efficiency, and understandability of supervised machine learning models. In this paper, FS for the recently introduced distance-based supervised machine learning model is considered for regression problems. The study is contextualized by first providing an umbrella review (review of reviews) of recent development in the research field. We then propose a saliency-based one-shot wrapper algorithm for FS, which is called MAS-FS.
