Can cycling with an E-bike improve fitness? : effect of access to an Electric Assisted Bicycle on cycling distance and cardiopulmonary fitness in ina…
2016
Masteroppgave folkehelsevitenskap - Universitetet i Agder 2016 Background: The aims of the present study were to assess the effect of an eight-month intervention with access to an Electric assisted bicycle (E-bike) on (1) the amount of E-biking, (2) changes in cardiopulmonary fitness and (3) to assess whether cycled distance was associated with changes in cardiopulmonary fitness, among inactive adults. Methods: Twenty-five inactive Norwegian adults (33 – 57 years of age, 72 % women), were recruited through convenience sampling. Participants were given an E-bike for eight (N = 23) or three (N = 2) months. Socio-demographic characteristics were reported with a questionnaire. Bicycle use was m…

Testing the Dispersion of Nanoparticles in a Nanocomposite with an Ultra-Low Fill Content Using a Novel Non-Destructive Evaluation Technique
2022
A non-destructive evaluation (NDE) technique capable of testing the dispersion of nanoparticles in a nanocomposite would be of great use to the industry to check the quality of the products made and to ensure compliance with their specifications. Very few NDE techniques found in the literature can evaluate the level of dispersion of the nanoparticles in the whole nanocomposite. Here, a recently developed NDE technique based on pulsed phase thermography (PPT) in transmission mode was used to assess the particle dispersion in ultra-low, less than 0.05 wt%, Ag enriched polymeric based nanocomposite manufactured with an innovative nano-coating fragmentation technique. The phasegrams obtained wi…
A Dynamic Electrical Scheme for the optimal reconfiguration of PV modules under non-homogeneous solar irradiation
2012
This paper presents a strategy for the maximization of the output power of photovoltaic (PV) systems under non homogeneous solar irradiation by means of automatic reconfiguration of the PV arrays layout. The innovation of the proposed approach is the employment of a simple Dynamic Electrical Scheme (DES), allowing a large number of possible modules interconnection, to be installed between the PV generator and the inverter. The models of the PV generator and of the DES have been realized and simulated with Simulink (Dynamic System Simulation for MATLAB). The attained experimental results appear to be quite interesting in terms of the attainable benefit in power and thus energy terms. The lim…
DC-DC Converter for Photovoltaic Application with MPPT function embedded interleaved 4
2012
We present a DC-DC converter for photovoltaic (PV) applications that is suitable for a distributed power conversion approach, obtained by transferring part of the electronics from the inverter to the module. The proposed circuit is a high-efficiency four-phase interleaved boost converter employing relatively low-valued inductive and capacitive components. Its realization is made possible thanks to the design of a dedicated integrated circuit (IC) performing the converter control section as well as the Maximum Power Point Tracking (MPPT) algorithm. The solution is designed for a maximum delivered power of 300 W and to work with MPPT voltage between 9 V and 40 V, with maximum allowed panel cu…
