Spatial effects in housing price models : do housing prices capitalize urban development policies in the agglomeration of Dijon (1999) ?

In this article we suppose that the integration of accessibility and neighborhood variables in hedonic housing models doesn't allow to take into account the spatial effects between the housing prices. Using a sample of 1520 transactions of apartments in the urban area of Dijon, we focus on two types of location variables : the distance to the CBD and the distance to several Disadvantaged Districts located in peripheral areas. We detect the presence of a spatial error autocorrelation in the hedonic model indicating that the valuation of the price of an apartment is locally influenced by the prices of the neighboring apartments. Sticky-Price Models and the Natural Rate Hypothesis

A major criticism of standard specifications of price adjustment in models for monetary policy analysis is that they violate the natural rate hypothesis by allowing output to differ from potential in steady state. In this paper we estimate a dynamic optimizing business cycle model whose price-setting behavior satisfies the natural rate hypothesis. The price-adjustment specifications we consider are the sticky-information specification of Mankiw and Reis (2002) and the indexed contracts of Christiano, Eichenbaum, and Evans (2005). Can fiscal policy stimulus boost economic recovery

We assess the role played by fiscal policy in explaining the dynamics of asset markets. Using a panel of ten industrialized countries, we show that a positive fiscal shock has a negative impact in both stock and housing prices. However, while stock prices immediately adjust to the shock and the effect of fiscal policy is temporary, housing prices gradually and persistently fall. Consequently, the attempts of fiscal policy to mitigate stock price developments (e.g. via taxes on capital gains) may severely de-stabilize housing markets. Exchange Rates and Stock Prices in the MENA countries: What Role for Oil?

This paper considers the linkage between stock prices and exchange rates in four MENA (Middle East and North Africa) emerging markets. In contrast to the existing evidence that uses a global market index to uncover such a relationship it is found that for the sample countries oil prices emerge as the dominant factor in the above relationship. The paper considers the presence of regime shifts and evidence is found of cointegration only for the period following the 1999 oil price shock. Readjustment towards equilibrium in each stock market occurs via oil price changes. Finally, a number of robustness checks are performed and persistence profiles produced. Wiley Online Library

Due to its specificity, animal production depends to a lesser extent than plant production on agrometeorological conditions. Interdependence between the prices of animal products and climatic conditions manifests itself primarily through the fodder markets, which determine the profitability of animal breeding and keeping. The effectiveness of the autoregressive models in forecasting the agricultural prices in Poland

The forecast of agricultural prices is one of the most important factors in making decision on production farms. The appropriate forecast allows for limiting the risk connected with one’s economic activity. In this study autoregressive models have been used, which helped to determine the price forecast for agricultural products in the purchasing centers in the second half of 2010. To determine the quality of forecast the average ex-post errors of the past forecasts have been used. The achieved results show that autoregressive models are an effective tool in forecasting the agricultural prices in Poland.

Gir boplikt lavere boligpriser?

Siden 1974 har norske kommuner hatt adgang til å innføre boplikt for eiendommer som er eller har vært i bruk som helårsbolig. Ordningen har helt siden den ble innført, vært svært omstridt. Vi undersøker hvordan boplikt påvirker boligprisene. Geografisk avgrenser vi oss til kystkommuner på Sørlandet, der mange som har sin faste bopel andre steder i landet, etterspør fritidsbolig. Uten boplikt kan helårsboliger bli kjøpt opp for å bli brukt som fritidsboliger. Den empiriske analysen, basert på data fra fire sørlandskommuner, hvorav den største kommunen, Arendal, opphevet boplikten i 2014, viser at prisene i kystsonen økte da boplikten ble opphevet.
