Teacher attitudes in Italy after 40 years of inclusion

In 1977, Italy adopted a policy to fully include students with disabilities in mainstream classrooms. This study surveyed the attitudes of Italian teachers towards inclusive education 40 years after this reform. The data were collected from 153 basic school teachers using the Teachers' Attitudes towards Inclusion Scale (TAIS). The results indicate that the Italian teachers had a high level of commitment to inclusive education. Approximately 90% of the respondents agreed that students with special educational needs should be educated in mainstream classrooms, and only 7% felt that they should be transferred to special education classrooms instead. Sub-milliarcsecond imaging of a bright flare and ejection event in the extragalactic jet 3C 111

Context. Flares in radio-loud active galactic nuclei are thought to be associated with the injection of fresh plasma into the compact jet base. Such flares are usually strongest and appear earlier at shorter radio wavelengths. Hence, very long baseline interferometry (VLBI) at millimeter(mm)-wavelengths is the best-suited technique for studying the earliest structural changes of compact jets associated with emission flares. Kvalifikācijas darbā “Intertīkla protokola balss telefonijas infrastruktūras testu automatizācija nepārtrauktas integrācijas sistēmas ietvaros” tika izstrādāti testēšanas rīki, kas ļauj lietotājam simulēt servisu noturības testus un ērti tos integrēt tādās nepārtrauktās integrācijas platformās kā Jenkins. Testēšanas rīku kopums ir izstrādāts pēc spējās programmatūras izstrādes metodes - Scrum ar JavaScript, HTML5, CSS un Python valodu palīdzību un ir pieejama lietošanas instrukcija angļu valodā.

Total oxidation of VOCs on Au nanoparticles anchored on Co doped mesoporous UVM-7 silica

Abstract Gold deposited on a cobalt containing siliceous mesoporous structure, UVM-7, presents a good catalytic performance in the total oxidation of propane and toluene. The presence of both gold and cobalt is necessary as bimetallic Au/Co-UVM-7 catalysts are remarkably more active than monometallic Au/UVM-7 or Co-UVM-7 catalysts. The improved activity of the bimetallic AuCo-samples if compared to gold free cobalt catalysts can be explained on the basis of the enhanced reducibility of some cobalt species in the presence of gold, which facilitates the redox cycle. Calcium ions are involved in a plethora of cellular functions including cell death and mitochondrial energy metabolism. Store-operated Ca(2+) entry over the plasma membrane is activated by depletion of intracellular Ca(2+) stores and is mediated by the sensor STIM1 and the channel ORAI1. We compared cell death susceptibility to oxidative stress in STIM1 knock-out and ORAI1 knockdown mouse embryonic fibroblasts and in knock-out cells with reconstituted wild type and dominant active STIM1. We show that STIM1 and ORAI1 deficiency renders cells more susceptible to oxidative stress, which can be rescued by STIM1 and ORAI1 overexpression.
