The 2n-Evaporation Channels In the Fusion of [sup 4,6]He with [sup 206,208]Pb

Excitation functions of the reaction products were measured for the reactions induced by 4,6He projectiles on 206,208Pb targets, leading to the same compound nucleus. This was accomplished by using the stacked‐foil‐activation technique. The identification of the reaction products (accumulated in the Pb targets) was done by their radioactive alp ha decays. The excitation functions for the 2n evaporation channels were obtained at energies below the sub‐Coulomb barrier region. A large value of the fusion cross section was observed in the case of the reaction induced by the weakly bound 6He projectile.

Two-neutron removal reactions for very neutron-rich nuclei

Abstract The two-neutron removal reactions of beams of 11 Li, 14 Be and 8 He upon Be, Ni and Au targets were studied at 30 MeV/u. The cross sections and the neutron forward angular distributions were measured; they correlate strongly with the two-neutron separation energy of the projectile. Even though the coverage of the neutron detectors was limited, a rough neutron-neutron distribution could be extracted. A simplified interpretation of the data is presented.
Shape dynamics in neutron-rich Kr isotopes: Coulomb excitation of 92Kr, 94Kr and 96Kr

We report on the study of excited states in 92,94,96Kr populated via projectile Coulomb excitation at safe energies. The radioactive ion beams at energies of 2.85 MeV/u were delivered by the REX-ISOLDE facility at CERN and impinged on self-supporting 194,196Pt targets. The emitted γ -rays were detected by the Miniball detector-array. A detailed description of the experimental techniques used for extracting diagonal and transitional matrix elements and of the theoretical framework is given. “Safe” Coulomb Excitation ofMg30

We report on the first radioactive beam experiment performed at the recently commissioned REX-ISOLDE facility at CERN in conjunction with the highly efficient γ spectrometer MINIBALL. Using Mg-30 ions accelerated to an energy of 2.25 MeV/u together with a thin Ni-nat target, Coulomb excitation of the first excited 2(+) states of the projectile and target nuclei well below the Coulomb barrier was observed. From the measured relative deexcitation γ-ray yields the B(E2;0(gs)(+)R 2(1)(+)) value of Mg-30 was determined to be 241(31)e(2) fm(4). Halo effective field theory analysis of one-neutron knockout reactions of Be11 and C15

Background: One-nucleon knockout reactions provide insightful information on the single-particle structure of nuclei. When applied to one-neutron halo nuclei, they are purely peripheral, suggesting that they could be properly modeled by describing the projectile within a halo effective field theory (halo-EFT).Purpose: We reanalyze the one-neutron knockout measurements of $^{11}\mathrm{Be}$ and $^{15}\mathrm{C}$---both one-neutron halo nuclei---on beryllium at about 60 MeV/nucleon. We consider halo-EFT descriptions of these nuclei which already provide excellent agreement with breakup and transfer data.Method: We include a halo-EFT description of the projectile within an eikonal-based model …

Charmonium is a valuable probe in heavy-ion collisions to study the properties of the quark gluon plasma, and is also an interesting probe in small collision systems to study cold nuclear matter effects, which are also present in large collision systems. With the recent observations of collective behavior of produced particles in small system collisions, measurements of the modification of charmonium in small systems have become increasingly relevant. We present the results of J/ψ measurements at forward and backward rapidity in various small collision systems, p+p, p+Al, p+Au, and He3+Au, at sNN=200 GeV. Neutron momentum distributions from "core break-up" reactions of halo nuclei

Neutron angular distributions from violent break-up reactions of Li-11 and Be-11 have been measured at 28 MeV/u and 280 MeV/u and at 41 MeV/u and 460 MeV/u, respectively. The derived neutron momentum distributions show a narrow component in transverse momentum that is within uncertainties independent of beam energy and target charge. This component is suggested to be simply related to the momentum distribution of the loosely bound halo neutron(s) in the projectiles.
Projectile and target delta excitation in the (3He, t) and (3He, 3He) reactions

Abstract We study simultaneously the ( 3 He , t) and ( 3 He, 3 He) reactions on proton and neutron targets in the region of the delta excitation resonance. We observe that the mechanism of delta excitation in the target dominates the ( 3 He, t) reaction on the proton, but the mechanism of delta excitation in the projectile is important in the ( 3 He, t) reaction on the neutron, and largely dominates the ( 3 He, 3 He) reaction on proton and neutron targets. The two mechanisms give rise to different shapes in the energy distributions of the t or 3 He outgoing particles and the weights and shapes of the mechanism change appreciably with the energy of the projectile.
