Evidence of a non-conservative mass transfer in the ultra-compact X-ray source XB 1916-053

The dipping source XB 1916-053 is a compact binary system with an orbital period of 50 min harboring a neutron star. Using ten new {\it Chandra} observations and one {\it Swift/XRT} observation, we are able to extend the baseline of the orbital ephemeris; this allows us to exclude some models that explain the dip arrival times. The Chandra observations provide a good plasma diagnostic of the ionized absorber and allow us to determine whether it is placed at the outer rim of the accretion disk or closer to the compact object. The goal of this study was to test the role of perceived entitativity as a potential moderator of underperformance typically associated with stereotype threat. The results of two experiments confirmed our hypotheses: Study 1 showed a lesser decrease in performance in a task of syllogistic abilities when the threat was directed to Sicilians (social category, low entitativity) rather than to their family (intimate group, high entitativity). Study 2 confirmed and extended these results through a direct measure of entitativity. Theoretical implications of these results are discussed.

Šā pētījuma mērķis bija noskaidrot, vai un kādas saistības pastāv starp indivīda depresijas stigmu un personības iezīmēm, māņticību, pašcieņu, sociāliem un demogrāfiskajiem faktoriem Latvijā. Pētījuma izlasi veido 231 abu dzimumu latviski runājoši Latvijas iedzīvotāji vecumā no 18 līdz 65 gadiem (M=32,18, SD=10,88), kuri elektroniskā veidā atbil dēja uz vairākiem jautājumiem, aizpildīja Depresijas stigmas aptauju, Aptauju „Lielais piecinieks”, Rozenberga Pašcieņas aptauju un Latvijas māņticības aptauju.Rezultāti apstiprina, ka ar depresijas stigmu pozitīvi korelē pašcieņa, māņticība un respondenta vecums, negatīvi – neirotisms. Il ruolo della corteccia prefrontale dorsolaterale (DLPFC) in compiti di memoria è stato largamente documentato. Una questione ancora molto dibattuta è il grado di lateralizzazione anatomica-funzionale dei processi di controllo esecutivo della DLPFC coinvolti nella memoria di riconoscimento. Il lavoro di tesi indaga le connessioni tra DLPFC e ippocampo mediante l’applicazione di tecniche di neuromodulazione dell’eccitabilità della DLPFC che consentano di accrescere l’attività ippocampale durante compiti di memoria di riconoscimento. Darbs ir uzrakstīts latviešu valodā uz 41 lapaspusēm. Tas satur 25 attēlus, 2 tabulas, 3 pielikumus un 46 atsauces uz literatūras avotiem. Darba mērķis ir novērtēt stimula kontrasta un virziena ietekmi uz sakāžu parametriem (sakādisko acu kustību latences, precizitātes un maksimālā ātruma rādītājiem). Pētījumā piedalījās 15 dalībnieki (no 21 līdz 29 gadiem). Acu kustibas tika pierakstītas ar Tobii Pro Fusion acu kustību pieraksta iekārtu (250Hz). Sakādisko acu kustību stimuli ar dažādiem kontrasta līmeņiem tika demonstrēti uz četriem dažādiem foniem četros dažādos virzienos. The conclusions drawn from the study of an oral biopsy are considered essential for the definitive diagnosis of diseases of the oral mucosa, and for the subsequent planning of appropriate treatment. Although the obtainment of biopsies is widely used in all medical fields, the practice is not so widespread in dental practice - fundamentally because of a lack of awareness of the procedure among dental professionals.
