Docetaxel-Loaded Nanoparticles Assembled from β-Cyclodextrin/Calixarene Giant Surfactants: Physicochemical Properties and Cytotoxic Effect in Prostat…
2017
Giant amphiphiles encompassing a hydrophilic β-cyclodextrin (βCD) component and a hydrophobic calix[4]arene (CA4) module undergo self-assembly in aqueous media to afford core-shell nanospheres or nanocapsules, depending on the nanoprecipitation protocol, with high docetaxel (DTX) loading capacity. The blank and loaded nanoparticles have been fully characterized by dynamic light scattering (DLS), ζ-potential measurements and cryo-transmission electron microscopy (cryo-TEM). The data are compatible with the distribution of the drug between the nanoparticle core and the shell, where it is probably anchored by inclusion of the DTX aromatic moieties in βCD cavities. Indeed, the release kinetics …
Guest-Induced Folding of the N-Benzyl Substituents in an Ammonium Resorcinarene Chloride and the Formation of a Halogen-Bonded Dimer of Capsules
2016
In methanol, N-benzyl ammonium resorcinarene chloride (Bn-NARCl) crystallizes as a solvate with the benzyl groups oriented in an open flower-like manner parallel to the cation–anion seam. 1,4-Dioxane as guest triggers a “semi-closed” single-molecule capsule with two benzyl “arms” enclosing the guest. The introduction of halogen bond (XB) donor 1,4-diiodoperfluorobutane (1,4-DIOFB) additionally folds the remaining two benzyl arms thus resulting in a fully closed capsule. Two 1,4-DIOFB molecules bridge two such Bn-NARCl capsules, forming a 2:2:2 XB held dimeric assembly of single-molecule capsules. The peculiar behavior was not observed in the bromide analog under similar experimental conditi…

Detection of poly(methylmethacrylate) wear particles in capsule tissue surrounding endoprotheses by pyrolysis gas chromatography
1982
Pyrolysis gas chromatography (PGC) is used to detect polymer wear particles in capsule tissue surrounding endoprotheses implanted with poly(methylmethacrylate) as bone cement. The method allows the detection of the polymer incorporated in tissue even in the range of 1 weight%.
Mass spectrometrical detection of polymer particles in capsule tissue surrounding joint endoprotheses of polyethyleneterephthalate
1982
Pyrolysis mass spectrometry of synthetic high polymers is described. The method is used to detect polymer wear particles in capsule tissue surrounding endoprotheses with polyethyleneterephthalate parts. An approximation of semi-quantitative determination of the polymer wear will be discussed.
Membrane oligo- and polysialic acids
2011
AbstractPolysialic acid (polySia) and oligosialic acid (oligoSia) chains are linear polysaccharides composed of sialic acid monomers. The majority of biological poly/oligoSia chains are bound to membranes. There is a large diversity of membrane poly/oligoSia in terms of chain length, occurrence, biological function, and the mode of membrane attachment. Poly/oligoSia can be anchored to a membrane via a phospholipid (polySia in bacteria), a glycosphingolipid (oligoSia in gangliosides), an integral membrane glycoprotein, or a glycoprotein attached to a membrane via glycosylphosphatidylinositol. In eukaryotic cells, the attachment of a poly/oligoSia chain to the membrane anchor is usually throu…
Tracing the source of gypsum in New Caledonian soils by REE contents and SSr isotopic compositions
1998
Gypsum minerals forming in pedogenic environments in New Caledonia were examined for their S and Sr isotope compositions and REE distributions. Three possible sources were identified: volcanic, soil-derived and marine. However, differentiation based only on the REE contents and normalized patterns was not possible, but, the best preserved volcanic sample yields a negative EuEu∗ anomaly and the lowest GdNYbN ratio due to the high content of organic matter. Mixing calculations of the δ34S values and 87Sr86Sr ratios confirmed that the marine gypsum has a δ34S value close to + 21‰ and an 87Sr86Sr ratio close to 0.70912, and that the volcanic gypsum has a δ34S value of 0‰ and an 87Sr86Sr ratio o…
STUDY ON CONVERSION OF ENCAPSULATED VITRO-DERIVED PROPAGULES OF 'C35' CITRANGE [C. SINENSIS (L.) OSB. × P. TRIFOLIATE (L.) RAF.]
2015
Fight against Citrus tristeza virus (CTV) implies the use of CTV-resistant rootstocks, such as citranges [C. Sinensis (L.) Osb. × P. Trifoliata (L.) Raf.]. The 'C35' represents a promising tolerant to CTV genotype. The employment of innovative in vitro techniques, such as encapsulation, could open new perspectives for this genotype propagation, particularly in the nursery activity. Preliminary experiments on calcium-alginate encapsulation of microcuttings (unipolar propagules) have already been performed to evaluate the use of tissue culture for the propagation and the preservation of different citrange rootstocks: Carrizo and Troyer. In the present study, the influence of different types a…
