Matkaopas lapsuuden historian tutkimukseen : monitieteisiä näkökulmia ja menetelmiä

2022

Teoksen luvut kiinnittyvät muun muassa arkeologiaan, etnologiaan, kasvatustieteisiin, kirjallisuudentutkimukseen, histo…

Endothelial cells loss to the hyperopic pacients during phacoemulsification

2018

Introduction The phacoemulsification cataract surgery is the most frequently performed surgery and it generally improves vision in over 90% of the patients. Hyperopic patients are a challenge during phacoemulsification especially because of their short eyeball and shallow anterior chamber. A shallow anterior chamber is associated with overall reduction of the safe zone, which may lead to difficulty in creating the corneal incisions, harder capsulorhexis performing, or endothelial complications. Purpose The aim of the study was to present the endothelial cells loss after the phacoemulsification procedure in the hyperopic patients. Material and methods A number of 1775 patients operated in th…

More than a Confinement: “Soft” and “Hard” Enzyme Entrapment Modulates Biological Catalyst Function

2019

Catalysis makes chemical and biochemical reactions kinetically accessible. From a technological point of view, organic, inorganic, and biochemical catalysis is relevant for several applications, from industrial synthesis to biomedical, material, and food sciences. A heterogeneous catalyst, i.e., a catalyst confined in a different phase with respect to the reagents’ phase, requires either its physical confinement in an immobilization matrix or its physical adsorption on a surface. In this review, we will focus on the immobilization of biological catalysts, i.e., enzymes, by comparing hard and soft immobilization matrices and their effect on the modulation of the catalysts’ function. Indeed, …

Halogen bonding and host-guest chemistry between

2019

Single crystal X-ray structures of halogen-bonded assemblies formed between host N-hexylammonium resorcinarene bromide (1) or N-cyclohexylammonium resorcinarene chloride (2), and 1,4-diiodooctafluorobutane and accompanying small solvent guests (methanol, acetonitrile and water) are presented. The guests’ inclusion affects the geometry of the cavity of the receptors 1 and 2, while the divalent halogen bond donor 1,4-diiodooctafluorobutane determines the overall nature of the halogen bond assembly. The crystal lattice of 1 contains two structurally different dimeric assemblies A and B, formally resulting in the mixture of a capsular dimer and a dimeric pseudo-capsule. 1H and 19F NMR analyses …

Synthesis and preliminary in vivo evaluation of well-dispersed biomimetic nanocrystalline apatites labeled with positron emission tomographic imaging…

2015

In recent years, biomimetic synthetic apatite nanoparticles (AP-NPs), having chemical similarity with the mineral phase of bone, have attracted a great interest in nanomedicine as potential drug carriers. To evaluate the therapeutic perspectives of AP-NPs through the mechanisms of action and organs they interact with, the noninvasive monitoring of their in vivo behavior is of paramount importance. To this aim, here the feasibility to radiolabel AP-NPs ("naked" and surface-modified with citrate to reduce their aggregation) with two positron emission tomographic (PET) imaging agents ([F-18]NaF and Ga-68-NO(2)AP(BP)) was investigated. [F-18]NaF was used for the direct incorporation of the radi…

Nano-sized I12L6 Molecular Capsules Based on the [N⋅⋅⋅I+⋅⋅⋅N] Halogen Bond

2017

Summary Self-assembly of pre-organized subunits with a concave overall shape is an effective strategy for the synthesis of supramolecular capsules. We report the synthesis of a cavitand-based hexameric capsule held together solely by 12 robust [N⋅⋅⋅I + ⋅⋅⋅N] halogen bonds and its characterization in solution and in the gas phase via 1 H NMR spectroscopy, diffusion-ordered nuclear magnetic resonance spectroscopy (DOSY), and electrospray ionization mass spectrometry. The [N⋅⋅⋅I + ⋅⋅⋅N] halogen-bonded hexameric capsule was efficiently synthesized from the isolobal metallosupramolecular Ag + capsule by application of the [N⋅⋅⋅Ag + ⋅⋅⋅N] → [N⋅⋅⋅I + ⋅⋅⋅N] cation-exchange reaction.
