In the present work we reviewed recent advances concerning neuroprotective/neurotrophic effects of acute or chronic nicotine exposure, and the signalling pathways mediating these effects, including mechanisms implicated in nicotine addiction and nAChR desensitization. Experimental and clinical data largely indicate long-lasting effects of nicotine and nicotinic agonists that imply a neuroprotective/neurotrophic role of nAChR activation, involving mainly alpha 7 and alpha 4 beta 2 nAChR subtypes, as evidenced using selective nAChR agonists. En la presente tesis se demuestra por primera vez que tanto NT3 como su receptor TrkC se expresan en el tejido adiposo (AT) visceral humano, y en distintos tejidos adiposos blancos (WAT) y pardos (BAT) de roedores. La expresión de NT3 es menor en adipocitos que en los vasos sanguíneos que irrigan el tejido. La expresión de TrkC en los adipocitos es semejante a la de adrenoceptores beta (AR-β3), principales moduladores metabólicos del AT, lo que sugiere un papel funcional para la vía NT3/TrkC en adipocitos. Today neutrino physics is in a privileged position within the fascinating field of particle physics. From the discovery of neutrino oscillations by Super-Kamiokande in 1998, the door to physics beyond the Standard Model (SM in what follows) has been opened. A revision of the Old World species of Leptopsilopa Cresson (Insecta: Diptera: Ephydridae)

Diagnoses and illustrations of three Leptopsilopa species known in the Old World: L. africana Cresson, L. mutabilis Cresson and L. pollinosa (Kertesz) are provided. Three new synonyms are proposed: L. aurata (Canzoneri and Meneghini) and L. tibialis (Canzoneri and Meneghini) = L. africana; Psilopa confeteae Canzoneri and Munari = L. pollinosa. Three other species are removed from Leptopsilopa and combined with Athyroglossa, as A. leonensis (Canzoneri and Rampini), new combination, A. mianii (Canzoneri) new combination and A. rossii (Canzoneri and Raffone), new combination.

Haptotropism in a Nickel Complex with a Neutral, π‐Bridging cyclo‐P4 Ligand Analogous to Cyclobutadiene

The reaction of ( 1 )Ni(η 2 -cod), 2 , incorporating a chelating bis( N -heterocyclic carbene) 1 , with P 4 in pentane yielded the dinuclear complex [( 2 )Ni] 2 (μ 2 ,η 2 :η 2 -P 4 ), 3 , formally featuring a cyclobutadiene-like, neutral, rectangular, π-bridging P 4 -ring. In toluene, the butterfly-shaped complex [( 1 )Ni] 2 (μ 2 ,η 2 :η 2 -P 2 ), 4 , with a formally neutral P 2 -unit was obtained from 2 and either P 4 or 3 .
