Asset Return Dynamics under Alternative Learning Schemes
2009
In this paper we design an artificial financial market where endogenous volatility is created assigning to the agents diverse prior beliefs about the joint distribution of returns, and, over time, making agents rationally update their beliefs using common public information. We analyze the asset price dynamics generated under two learning environments: one where agents assume that the joint distribution of returns is IID, and another where agents believe in the existence of regimes in the joint distribution of asset returns. We show that the regime switching learning structure can generate all the most common stylized facts of financial markets: fat tails and long-range dependence in volati…
Effective 1-day ahead prediction of hourly surface ozone concentrations in eastern Spain using linear models and neural networks
2002
The aim of this research was to develop pure predictive models in order to provide 24 h advance forecasts of the hourly ozone concentration for the rural site of Carcagente (Valencia, Spain) and the urban sites of Paterna (Valencia, Spain) and Alcoy (Alicante, Spain) over 4 years from 1996 to 1999. The peculiarity of the model presented here is that it uses past and previously predicted information of inputs exclusively, thus being this is the first genuine 24 h advance O3 predictive model with neural networks. We used autoregressive-moving average with exogenous inputs (ARMAX), multilayer perceptrons and FIR neural networks. Five performance measures yield reasonably good results in the th…
Ecological and evolutionary consequences of selective interspecific information use
2023
Recent work has shown that animals frequently use social information from individuals of their own species as well as from other species; however, the ecological and evolutionary consequences of this social information use remain poorly understood. Additionally, information users may be selective in their social information use, deciding from whom and how to use information, but this has been overlooked in an interspecific context. In particular, the intentional decision to reject a behaviour observed via social information has received less attention, although recent work has indicated its presence in various taxa. Based on existing literature, we explore in which circumstances selective i…

Asymmetrical interspecific communication in avian mixed species colonies
Sympatric species derive benefits by attending to information conveyed by heterospecifics. We previously reported reduced vigilance among jackdaws (Corvus monedula) and lesser kestrels (Falco numanni) residing in mixed species colonies and conducted the present study to test for interspecific communication of threat associated with European magpies (Pica pica) as nest predators. After quantifying structural differences in jackdaw and lesser kestrel calls relative to European magpie versus non-predator models, we played back calls of jackdaws and lesser kestrels representative of the different model types to test whether receivers perceive threat-related variation in either conspecific or he…
Las políticas públicas simbólicas para el buen gobierno y la calidad democrática en la Comunitat Valenciana
2017
International audience; Aproved the Law 19/2013 about transparency, access to public information and good governance, public sub-state administrations have had to implement a series of public policies to improve aspects such as the quality of democracy, fighting corruption and reliable information, among others. This paper explores and describes the first steps of Generalitat Valenciana for ensuring transparency and good governance in its territory. Especially, it focuses in the study of the Code of Good Governance. For its purpose, we are going to use a Neoinstitutionalist approach; Con la aprobación de la Ley 19/2013, de transparencia, acceso a la información pública y buen gobierno, las A…
Ponowne wykorzystywanie informacji sektora publicznego
2016
