Si è esaminata la figura di Padre Fedele da San Biagio, pittore e trattatista del Settecento. Dopo aver ricostruito il periodo formativo e la produzione artistica del maestro, si è operata una selezione di immagini pittoriche particolarmente suggestive come Madonna con angeli e santi, Gloria di San Fedele da Sigmaringa, Giuditta e Oloferne, Giaele e Sisara e Autoritratto. Si è indagato, inoltre, intorno a Dialoghi Fiamiliari sopra la pittura difesa ed esaltata, edita nel 1788. Quivi, Padre Fedele da San Biagio riprese la cinquecentesca querelle intorno alla supremazia o meno della pittura sulla scultura, ribadendone l’eccellenza della prima sulla seconda.
