ABSTRACTAny religious worldview, understood in the sense that ‘life has a purpose’, has to face the problem of evil. The problem of evil has been particularly intensively discussed in the Aristotelian–Scholastic–Christian tradition. The most popular solution has been to deny that anything truly evil actually exists. It is hard to conceive why an omnipotent and perfectly good God would allow evil to appear. Tutkin kandidaatintyössäni Leena Lehtolaisen romaanisarjassa esiintyvän päähenkilön Hilja Ilveskeron henkilöhahmoa ja sen kehittymistä erityisesti suhteessa dekkarin lajiin. Sisällytän tutkimukseeni romaanit Henkivartija, Oikeuden jalopeura ja Paholaisen pennut. Tutkin Hilja Ilveskeron henkilöhahmoa ja sen kehittymistä. Tutkimukseni aineistona olevat kolme kirjaa täyttävät selvästi dekkarin lajitunnusmerkit, joten vertaan myös henkilöhahmoa dekkarin tyypillisiin henkilöhahmoihin ja tutkin sen sijoittumista suhteessa niihin ja suhteessa dekkarin lajiin ja sen alalajeihin. Because psychological distress can increase vulnerability to excessive gambling, we investigated its mediating role in these relationships among young people. Positions constructed for a female therapist in male batterers' treatment group

How the gender of the therapist affects the treatment of intimately violent men has been little researched. In this study we examined the positions that batterers construct for a female therapist in batterers' group treatment. The data consisted of five videotaped therapy groups for male batterers. Three positions of a woman were constructed: woman in general; woman as spouse and woman personally as herself. These positions were often based on a constructed difference between men and women. The female therapist repositioned herself to diminish the difference constructed between the genders and to make fear of the spouse visible. peerReviewed

Paholaisnimistö vanhassa kirjasuomessa

Tutkimusaiheena tässä tutkielmassa on vanhassa kirjasuomessa esiintyvä paholaisnimistö. Aihe on perusteltu, sillä vanhan kirjasuomen aikakauden paholaisnimistöä ei ole tutkittu aikaisemmin. Tutkimus selvitti, millaisten vaiheiden kautta kaksi ensimmäistä suomenkielistä Uutta testamenttia on käännetty ja miten paholaista on nimitetty näissä teksteissä. Ensimmäinen Uusi testamentti on Mikael Agricolan kääntämä, ja se on julkaistu vuonna 1548. Toinen teoksista on eri vaiheiden jälkeen painettu vuonna 1642, ja sen viimeistelystä vastasi Eskil Petraeuksen johtama käännöskomitea.
