Consenso español de salud física del paciente con depresión

2014

Comorbidity between depression and physical illnesses is very common and has a significant impact on the health and management of the patient. With the support of the Sociedades Espanolas de Psiquiatria y Psiquiatria Biologica, and Sociedad Espanola de Medicos de Atencion Primaria (SEMERGEN) a consensus was prepared on physical health in patients with depression and is summarized in the present work. The literature review highlighted the high frequency of cardiovascular and endocrine-metabolic disorders in patients with depression such as diabetes and obesity, thus making the primary and secondary prevention recommendations for patients with cardiovascular or metabolic risk applicable to pa…

Ambulante und tageschirurgische Eingriffe

2003

Ambulatory surgical care is intended to save healthcare expenditure from the economical viewpoint. From the patients point of view significant advantages as well as specific disadvantages of ambulatory surgery are known. The increase in the volume and complexity of procedures provided in an ambulatory setting are driven by improvements in anesthesia and surgical technique as well as by changes in financing and reimbursement. Therefore careful quality control and scientific evidence for the safety of increasingly used complex surgical procedures for higher risk patients is essential. Reducing the surgical trauma by minimally invasive surgical techniques and very good controllability by moder…

Professional liability in oral surgery : legal and medical study of 63 court sentences

2010

Objectives: Dentistry, like all other health care professions, has in recent years been subjected to an increase in legal pressure by patients. Nevertheless, there are areas of activity in dentistry in which, whether because of their frequency or due to the importance of the damage and sequelae claimed, this legal pressure is greater. Amongst these areas of activity is that of oral surgery. Study design: To be meticulously analyzed in this report are 63 sentences issued by courts of second instance or higher levels regarding lawsuits involving oral surgery. The data collection file includes 13 variables. The descriptive and comparative statistical study by cross-referencing certain variable…

Imaging photoplethysmography for assessment of chronic pain patients

2019

In present pilot study application of multi-spectral imaging photoplethysmography for assessment of chronic pain patients during topical skin heating test was proposed. Photoplethysmography signal was recorded at 420nm, 530nm and 810nm illumination from the skin and corresponding perfusion indexes and perfusion maps were calculated. The novel parameter-PPGflare index was introduced and compared in neuropathic patients and healthy volunteers. Preliminary results suggest that neuropathic patients exhibited significantly lower PPGflare index, and that local heating substantially change PPG waveform at heat exposed skin region. Present study emphasizes advantages of imaging photoplethysmography…

Scoresysteme in der Notfallmedizin?

1994

The primary goals of scoring in emergency medicine are grading of the severity of the patient's condition, measurement of diagnostic and therapeutic efforts, forecasting the outcome, and support in decision making on triage and therapy. Scores can also be used as tools for measuring efficacy and controlling quality. There has been less experience with use of scoring systems to estimate quality of life. The ability to make a prognosis in an individual case is the most critical point; a score may support decisions on therapy in very specific situations only. Scores for use in emergency medicine should be based on physiological parameters, universally applicable and suitable for use throughout…

The use of a questionnaire for improvement of postoperative analgesia after transurethral resection of the prostate

2003

Abstract Background : Postoperative analgesic studies with methods like i.v. patient controlled analgesia (i.v. PCA) or epidural analgesia have reported effective pain relief after major surgery, also after urologic cancer surgery. In contrast, systematic results after minor urologic surgery are widely unknown, although the pain intensities may be high for a short time. The aim of the study was to evaluate the usefulness of a pain questionnaire as a measurement tool of postoperative analgesic quality after transurethral resection of the prostate (TUR-P). Methods : A questionnaire of the American Pain Society (APS) for quality assurance of postoperative pain therapy was adapted to estimate t…
