This volume focuses on subjects and data analysed from different perspectives in the light of the health emergency. An emergency which has prompted everyone not only to deal with medical, biological or statistical information (dynamics of contagions, increase in contagions, immune response, effectiveness of vaccines, etc.), but also with the processes of producing of norms, rules and regulations to be interpreted and assessed, as well as with the modification of the spaces of freedom of individuals and organisations.

Background: A system of photosensitive retinal ganglion cells provides ‘non-visual’ information on the circadian sequences of light to the suprachiasmatic nucleus (SCN), which, as the ‘master clock’, synchronizes the chronobiological mechanisms of all the biological clocks. Although contact reductions and wearing face coverings have reduced infection rates, and vaccines have reduced illness severity, emergence of new variants of the coronavirus that causes COVID-19, and the shift from pandemic to endemic patterns of infection, highlights the importance of ongoing preventive behavior adherence to manage future outbreaks.
