El proyecto de un pórtico clasicista para la iglesia de los Santos Juanes de Valencia y su impacto en el entorno urbano (1788-1856)
2020
In the year 1788, the parish of Los Santos Juanes in Valencia proposed to the City Council the erection of same classical-style portico in order to beautify its outer eastern façade, surrounding the head of the temple and relying on the Plaza del Mercado. This portico was never built, but there would be an impact of such an architectural purpose in subsequent reform plans of that outstanding urban location.
Discussions on intimate partner violence and electrodermal activity in couple therapy
2016
Thrombolysis Followed by Apixaban for Massive Pulmonary Embolism and Free-floating Thrombus in Right Ventricle in a Patient with Breast Cancer
2018
Free-floating thrombus in the right ventricle, associated with a massive acute pulmonary embolism (PE), is a rare phenomenon. PE is an important clinical entity with considerable mortality despite advances in diagnosis and treatment. The prognosis of PE depends on right ventricular dysfunction, myocardial injury markers, and early treatment. In this report, we present the case of a 71-year-old woman with a history of breast cancer admitted to intensive care unit for PE complicated by syncope. Although our case may seem complex because it is not represented in the guidelines, the result was satisfactory and showed how treatment with new anticoagulants (in this case apixaban) after massive th…
Students’ evaluation of information during online inquiry: Working individually or in pairs
2019
Varying information quality and an increase of misinformation on the Internet accentuates the importance of supporting students’ competencies to critically evaluate information. This study compared how individuals and pairs of secondary students worked to evaluate the quality of online information across two inquiry topics. Two similar studies were conducted with 140 Finnish (Study I) and 52 US (Study II) students. Students were asked to conduct an online inquiry and then write an essay about one of two topics: allowing the genetic modification of organisms (GMO) or the effects of social media on people’s quality of life (SM). Students worked either individually or in pairs. Their work was …
I.2 L’area Nord-Occidentale, in Carra et alii, Le aree funerarie fra isola e terraferma: esempi dalla Sicilia e dalla Sardegna, pp. 135-179
2015
Christian funerary evidence of Sicily and Sardinia are among the 3rd-4th century and 7th-8th. They were defined “useful fossils” to determine the incidence of the new religion in urban areas and the importance of the settlement spread over vast areas. The burial areas recognized in Sardinia are about one hundred; in Sicily they are more and more numerous; they are distributed along the route of the ancient roads and fall within the areas of competence of the diocese known by some letters of Pope Gregory the Great. They were divided into three categories: burial areas sub divo, rural and urban; burial underground areas, urban and rural; burial areas connected with a rural church or with a ma…
POSITIONING ROMANIA AS A TOURISM DESTINATION BASED ON THE INFORMATION FROM ONLINE TRAVEL GUIDES
2014
Concerned with asserting itself as a unique tourism destination, Romania has spent time and money and has put a lot of hope in choosing its brand elements and secondary associations, forgetting that brands are not built only through advertising. The points of contact through which customers get to know a brand are various: observation and personal use, oral advocacy, interactions with Romania’s citizens, online and mobile experiences, etc. This paper aims to highlight the importance of Romania’s positioning statement, as a tourism destination, based on the information from major online international travel guides, and to argue the harmonization of this approach in differentiating the brand …

Diversification in evolutionary arenas - assessment and synthesis
2019
Abstract Understanding how and why rates of evolutionary diversification vary is a central issue in evolutionary biology and ecology. The concept of adaptive radiation has attracted much interest, but is metaphorical and verbal in nature, making it difficult to quantitatively compare different evolutionary lineages or geographic regions. In addition, the causes of evolutionary stasis are relatively neglected. Here we review the central concepts in the evolutionary diversification literature and bring these together by proposing a general framework for estimating rates of diversification and quantifying their underlying dynamics, which can be applied across clades and regions and across spat…
Socioeconomic differences in the use of alcohol and drunkenness in adolescents: Trends in the Health Behaviour in School-aged Children study in Finla…
2018
Aims: The aims of this study were to explore time-based trends of socioeconomic differences in alcohol use and drunkenness in Finnish adolescents from 1990 to 2014 and to investigate the significance of two indicators in detecting socioeconomic differences in alcohol use and drunkenness. Methods: Data were retrieved from seven surveys conducted as part of the Health Behaviour in School-aged Children (HBSC) study in Finland from 1990 to 2014. The alcohol use and drunkenness of 15-year-old students, as well as socioeconomic status, including educational aspiration and perceived family wealth, were assessed via a self-report questionnaire. Logistic regression models were used to investigate t…
