Electrodermal activity in couple therapy for intimate partner violence

The aim of this study was to examine the extent to which intimate partner violence (IPV) is discussed in couple therapy, what the participants say about it and how, and how the participants’ electrodermal activity (EDA) is activated during these discussions. We studied four couples for whom IPV was an issue in dialog with their therapists. We used thematic analysis and examined the differences in EDA (measured as skin conductance responses, SCRs) between the participants. We found that although IPV was discussed relatively little in therapy, when the topic arose the victims took an active part in the discussion. W historii Polski nie brakuje postaci, których życie z uwagi na burzliwe dzieje XX w. było wypełnione wieloma interesującymi wydarzeniami. Należał do nich zapomniany niestety współcześnie polski malarz Włodzimierz Bartoszewicz. Historia jego życia rozpoczęła się w 1899 r. we Lwowie, gdzie przyszedł na świat w rodzinie Joachima Bartoszewicza i Marii z Jełowickich. Był jedynakiem, którego rodzice wiele uwagi poświęcili kwestii jego edukacji. Na poziomie szkolnym była ona realizowana w Kijowie, gdzie od 1906 r. In recent years, battery technology has been greatly improved and some types of battery chainsaws are currently comparable with light-type petrol machines, suggesting their possible introduction into forest operations. In this context, the aim of this study was to test and compare the performance, in a Douglas-fir thinning, of two chainsaws similar in terms of weight and power, the Stihl MS 220 CB battery-powered saw and the Stihl MS 201 CM petrol-powered saw, measuring the working times and calculating the productivities. To judge the mutual relationship among elements, pairwise comparisons (PC) are widely used in decision modelling. PC is especially useful when the involved elements are intangible. Frequently, the number of elements to be compared may be very large. When dealing with n elements, the number of PCs is, under the reciprocity hypothesis, n(n − 1)/2. PCs are compiled in so-called pairwise comparison matrices (PCM). In the presence of missing entries due to uncertainty or lack of information, decision-making must be performed from the available incomplete information.
