Female survivors’ experiences of authorities’ actions in cases of partner stalking

Previous studies have shown that civil authorities fail to understand the nature of stalking and the harmful consequences it causes victims. The aim of this study was to investigate how the victims of partner stalking had perceived the actions of civil authorities and the stalking investigation process. The data were drawn from conversations among members of an internet-based peer support group for female victims of partner stalking. Attitudes and motivation in the treatment of IPV : a case study of two intimately violent men

This case study used qualitative content analysis to examine the cases of two intimately violent men. Both participated in a group intervention but experienced dramatically different outcomes. In the case of "Henri", the intervention was especially successful, but in the case of "Mikael" it was unsuccessful. The data of this study consisted of the video tapes of the men’s therapy sessions, and of the interviews of their spouses. Tässä tutkimuksessa tarkastelin psykoterapeuttista muutosta väkivaltaongelman suhteen käyttäen taustateoriana ja menetelmänä assimilaatiomallia ja -analyysia. Mallin avulla voidaan selvittää, miten ongelmallisen kokemuksen merkitys muuttuu keskustelussa ja minkä prosessien kautta se hyväksytään osaksi itseä. Results of the Jyväskylä research project on couple therapy for intimate partner violence : topics and strategies in successful therapy processes

Despite controversy over the indications of couple therapy for IPV, current research has indicated some benefits. This article examines some crucial aspects when dealing with couple therapy for IPV, such as how dominance and power abuse are present, and which important issues should be taken into account during the therapeutic process and be brought up in therapeutic conversations. It also proposes strategies for therapists conducting couple therapy for IPV. Ten studies conducted within the Jyväskylä research project on couple therapy for IPV were reviewed. Agentive responsibility and possibilities of conjoined therapy for intimate relationship violence

This thesis is about how to provide conjoined therapy to couples suffering from intimate partner violence (IPV). The discourse analysis concentrated on the narrations produced in therapy and how both the therapists and customers position themselves responsibly thus with strong agency. The results suggest an array of supportive narrative practises to enhance agency and provide through psychoeducation, empowering and perspective challenging toward more individual sense of agency in speech about one’s relation to the relationship as well as to the theme of violence.

Tässä pro gradu -tutkielmassa tutkitaan aviopuolisoiden välisiä surmia Suomessa 1850-luvulla. Työssä tutkitaan puolisoiden välisiä vakavia konfliktitilanteita, jotka kärjistyivät väkivaltaisiksi kuolemiksi, sekä suunniteltuja murhia, joissa saattoi olla mukana myös parisuhteen ulkopuolisia henkilöitä. Aihetta tutkitaan Turun, Vaasan ja Viipurin hovioikeuden päätöstaltioista. Aineisto mahdollistaa koko Suomen kattavan puolisonsurmien tarkastelun. Tutkimusmenetelmäksi on valittu temaattinen sisällönanalyysi, jonka avulla aineisto on jäsennelty ja tutkimustulokset esitelty. Sen avulla selvitetään henkirikostapausten yleispiirteitä. Tutkimuksemme tarkoituksena oli selvittää, millaisia puhekäytäntöjä väkivallasta puhumiseen liittyy parisuhdeväkivallan ehkäisemiseen tarkoitetussa pariterapiassa. Tutkimme väkivaltapuheen määrää ajallisesti, väkivallasta käytettyjä sanoja ja väkivaltapuheen sukupuolittuneisuutta. Katsoimme myös, vaikuttaako väkivaltapuheen määrä terapeuttiseen allianssiin SRS-lomakkeilla mitattuna. Lisäksi huomioimme, mitä muita aiheita istunnoilla nousi esiin. Tutkimuksemme oli osa Pariterapia parisuhdeväkivallan ehkäisemisen keinona - tutkimusprojektia. Aineistomme koostui neljän pariskunnan ensimmäisistä kolmesta pariterapiaistunnosta.
