In this paper, Vaccaro aims to interrogate the political value of truth. Moving from Hannah Arendt and the debate between modernity and postmodernity, the paper focus the Will to truth according the elaboration of Nietzsche, but also the first Collège de France course by Foucault in the ’70s. The thesis is a etho-politics of telling the truth, that to say the parrhesia, as an antidote either to the nihilation of truth in the post-truth, or to the enforcement of truth as the One in politics.

Ethics in organizations, raising concerns, and whistleblowing have been previously theorized through Foucault's work on the power/knowledge bond. However, approaching these issues through the work from Foucault's third period on parrhesia, or fearless speech remains an underdeveloped route. Participation has increasingly become a means and an end for successful and ‘empowering’ social policy. Building on previous governmentality critiques of participatory initiatives, this article investigates practices of resistance in the context of Finnish participatory social policy. I adopt a Foucauldian counter-conducts approach as my lens to study critical speech as a form of resistance in initiatives that invite marginalised people as ‘experts-by-experience’ in social welfare organisations.
