σ→γγWidth from Nucleon Electromagnetic Polarizabilities

The lightest QCD resonance, the $\ensuremath{\sigma}$, has been recently fixed in the $\ensuremath{\pi}\ensuremath{\pi}$ scattering amplitude. The nature of this state remains nowadays one of the most intriguing and difficult issues in particle physics. Its coupling to photons is crucial for discriminating its structure. We propose a new method that fixes this coupling using only available precise experimental data on the proton electromagnetic polarizabilities together with analyticity and unitarity. Building Partial Discharge Signal Wireless Probes

This chapter focuses on the evaluation of the performances of different antenna sensors suitable for Partial Discharge (PD) measurements. Monopole, triangular and spherical antennas were simulated by means of the surface method of moments. The transmitting system is modeled by a power electronic device with a fault current between two metal plates. The shape of the simulated, transmitted and received signals, has been compared to verify the sensor that provides the best fidelity among the three. Role of a triangle singularity in the πN(1535) contribution to γp→pπ0η

We have studied the $\ensuremath{\gamma}p\ensuremath{\rightarrow}p{\ensuremath{\pi}}^{0}\ensuremath{\eta}$ reaction paying attention to the two main mechanisms at low energies, the $\ensuremath{\gamma}p\ensuremath{\rightarrow}\mathrm{\ensuremath{\Delta}}(1700)\ensuremath{\rightarrow}\ensuremath{\eta}\mathrm{\ensuremath{\Delta}}(1232)$ and the $\ensuremath{\gamma}p\ensuremath{\rightarrow}\mathrm{\ensuremath{\Delta}}(1700)\ensuremath{\rightarrow}\ensuremath{\pi}N(1535)$. Non-classical Velocity Statistics in Counterflow Quantum Turbulence

In this work we analyse the statistical distribution of turbulent superfluid velocity components in a He II counterflow channel, via two-dimensional numerical simulations pre- sented in past studies. The Probability Density Functions (PDFs) of the superfluid velocity components are investigated at lengthscales smaller than the average intervortex spacing, for varying vortex densities and different wall-normal distances. The results obtained con- firm the non-classical signature of quantum turbulence already observed in past numerical studies.

Dynamics of mean-field spin models from basic results in abstract differential equations

The infinite-volume limit of the dynamics of (generalized) mean-field spin models is obtained through a direct analysis of the equations of motion, in a large class of representations of the spin algebra. The resulting dynamics fits into a general framework for systems with long-range interaction: variables at infinity appear in the time evolution of local variables and spontaneous symmetry breaking with an energy gap follows from this mechanism. The independence of the construction of the approximation scheme in finite volume is proven. © 1992 Plenum Publishing Corporation.

Powerful gyrotrons can be used to heat nuclear fusion plasma.
