Sur une classe d’equations du type parabolique lineaires

1996

The application of the variational method for the existence theorem, developped by J. L. Lions, for the evolution equations in Hilbert spaces to a considerably large class of systems of linear partial differential equations of parabolic type is studied by defining Hilbert spaces in relation to the elliptic operator of the system, and an example insired by the system of equations for a viscous gas is examined.

Sequence Q-learning: A memory-based method towards solving POMDP

2015

Partially observable Markov decision process (POMDP) models a control problem, where states are only partially observable by an agent. The two main approaches to solve such tasks are these of value function and direct search in policy space. This paper introduces the Sequence Q-learning method which extends the well known Q-learning algorithm towards the ability to solve POMDPs through adding a special sequence management framework by advancing from action values to “sequence” values and including the “sequence continuity principle”.

A generalized porous medium equation related to some singular quasilinear problems

2014

Abstract In this paper we study the existence and nonexistence of solutions for a Dirichlet boundary value problem whose model is { − ∑ m = 1 ∞ a m Δ u m = f in  Ω u = 0 on  ∂ Ω , where Ω is a bounded domain of R N , a m is a sequence of nonnegative real numbers, and f is in L q ( Ω ) , q > N 2 .

Value, supplier dependence and long‐term orientation

2011

PurposeIn organizational markets, many companies tend to reduce the number of providers to focus on establishing relationships with few of them. The purpose of this paper is to analyze the influence of relationship value and dependence of supplier on long‐term orientation and customer loyalty in the setting of relationships between travel agencies and their main providers.Design/methodology/approachA partial least square regression is performed to test a proposed model that links several relational variables with outcomes in terms of customer loyalty.FindingsResults provide support for the positive indirect influence of relationship value on long‐term orientation, while customer dependence …

Unlocking behaviors of long-term service consumers : the role of action inertia

2017

Purpose The purpose of this paper is to examine the antecedents of word-of-mouth (WOM) in long-term service settings. Specifically, the authors examine the moderating role of action inertia in the relationships between satisfaction and repatronage intention, satisfaction and WOM, and repatronage intention and WOM. Design/methodology/approach The proposed model was empirically tested using survey data from 1,385 telecommunications service subscribers. The data were analyzed using partial least squares path modeling. Findings Results suggest that a positive link between repatronage intention and WOM, hereto a neglected relationship in the marketing literature, in contrast to previous literat…

Adaptation based on interpolation errors for high order mesh refinement methods applied to conservation laws

2012

Adaptive mesh refinement is nowadays a widely used tool in the numerical solution of hyperbolic partial differential equations. The algorithm is based on the numerical approximation of the solution of the equations on a hierarchical set of meshes with different resolutions. Among the different parts that compose an adaptive mesh refinement algorithm, the decision of which level of resolution is adequate for each part of the domain, i.e., the design of a refinement criterion, is crucial for the performance of the algorithm. In this work we analyze a refinement strategy based on interpolation errors, as a building block of a high order adaptive mesh refinement algorithm. We show that this tec…

Words and Patterns

2002

In this paper some new ideas, problems and results on patterns are proposed. In particular, motivated by questions concerning avoidability, we first study the set of binary patterns that can occur in one infinite binary word, comparing it with the set of factors of the word. This suggests a classification of infinite words in terms of the "difference" between the set of its patterns and the set of its factors. The fact that each factor in an infinite word can give rise to several distinct patterns leads to study the set of patterns of a single finite word. This set, endowed with a natural order relation, defines a poset: we investigate the relationships between the structure of such a poset…

Quality changes in fresh-cut mango cubes submitted to different gas partial pressure of active MAPs

2018

The study was performed to assess chemical-physical and sensory quality changes in 4±1°C stored fresh-cut mangos and to test the effect of active modified atmosphere packaging (MAP) with different gas partial pressures. Sicilian fruits of ‘Keitt’ mango (Mangifera indica L.) were immerged in hydrogen peroxide (H2O2) after being peeled. Next, the flesh was cut in cubes and dipped in citric acid (0.5%, w/v) and ascorbic acid (0.5%, w/v). Treated fruits were placed in a non-perforated high density polyethylene package flushing different gas mixtures and kept at 4°C for 21 days. We used four different gas partial pressures: a) 60 kPa N2, 30 kPa CO2 and 10 kPa O2; b) 30 kPa CO2 and 70 kPa N2; c) …

Effect of Sunred metabolic promoter and deficit irrigation on fruit quality of 'Valencia' oranges

2012

This study evaluated the effect of deficit irrigation and Sunred foliar metabolic promoter on fruit quality of adult 'Valencia' orange trees. Three irrigation strategies were imposed in spring 2011: Irrigation with volumes corresponding to 100% of crop evapotranspiration applied to entire root-zone (CI), partial root-zone drying (PRD) with 50% of CI water applied to one alternated side of the root-zone, and continuous deficit irrigation (DI) with 50% of CI water applied to both sides of the root-zone. Four trees in each irrigation treatment were sprayed 30 and 20 days before harvest with Sunred metabolic promoter containing phenylalanine, methionine, mono-saccharides and oxylipins from plan…
