Determination of fatty acids and lipid classes in salmon oil by near infrared spectroscopy

2017

International audience; Near-infrared (NIR) spectroscopy was evaluated as a rapid method for the determination of oleic, palmitic, linoleic and linolenic acids as well as omega-3, omega-6, and to predict polyunsaturated, monounsaturated and saturated fatty acids, together with triacylglycerides, diglycerides, free fatty acids and ergosterol in salmon oil. To do it, Partial Least Squares (PLS) regression models were applied to correlate NIR spectra with aforementioned fatty acids and lipid classes. Results obtained were validated in front of reference procedures based on high performance thin layer and gas chromatography. PLS-NIR has a good predictive capability with relative root mean squar…

Information Transfer in Linear Multivariate Processes Assessed through Penalized Regression Techniques: Validation and Application to Physiological N…

2020

The framework of information dynamics allows the dissection of the information processed in a network of multiple interacting dynamical systems into meaningful elements of computation that quantify the information generated in a target system, stored in it, transferred to it from one or more source systems, and modified in a synergistic or redundant way. The concepts of information transfer and modification have been recently formulated in the context of linear parametric modeling of vector stochastic processes, linking them to the notion of Granger causality and providing efficient tools for their computation based on the state&ndash

Von Willebrand-Syndrom - Blutungsrisiko bei HNO-Eingriffen im Kindesalter

1994

Von Willebrand's disease (vWD) is the most common inherited bleeding disorder. Typical clinical features such as bleeding after surgery or trauma might suggest the disease. We present a series of 24 patients with vWD treated between 1989 and 1992. Diagnosis was confirmed by a reduction in plasma factor VIII antigen concentration, reduction of ristocetin cofactor activity and reduced factor VIII activity. Seventeen of the patients underwent surgery (7 adenoidectomies, 8 tonsillectomies, 2 paranasal sinus operations) and received preoperative stimulation of von Willebrand factor (vWF) using DDAVP. This resulted in a rapid increase in plasma vWF concentration from an average of 56% before stim…

Reproducing pairs of measurable functions

2017

We analyze the notion of reproducing pair of weakly measurable functions, which generalizes that of continuous frame. We show, in particular, that each reproducing pair generates two Hilbert spaces, conjugate dual to each other. Several examples, both discrete and continuous, are presented.

Systematic derivation of partial differential equations for second order boundary value problems

2022

Software systems designed to solve second order boundary value problems are typically restricted to hardwired lists of partial differential equations. In order to come up with more flexible systems, we introduce a systematic approach to find partial differential equations that result in eligible boundary value problems. This enables one to construct and combine one's own partial differential equations instead of choosing those from a pre-given list. This expands significantly end users possibilities to employ boundary value problems in modeling. To introduce the main ideas we employ differential geometry to examine the mathematical structure involved in second order boundary value problems …

Coupled coincidence point results for (φ,ψ)-contractive mappings in partially ordered metric spaces

2014

Abstract. In this paper, we extend the coupled coincidence point theorems for a mixed g-monotone operator F : X × X → X $F:X\times X\rightarrow X$ obtained by Alotaibi and Alsulami [Fixed Point Theory Appl. (2011), article ID 44], by weakening the involved contractive condition. Two examples are given to illustrate the effectiveness of our generalizations. Our result also generalizes some recent results announced in the literature. Moreover, some applications to integral equations are presented.

Coupled fixed point theorems for symmetric (phi,psi)-weakly contractive mappings in ordered partial metric spaces

2013

We establish some coupled fixed point theorems for symmetric (phi,chi)-weakly contractive mappings in ordered partial metric spaces. Some recent results of Berinde (Nonlinear Anal. 74 (2011), 7347-7355; Nonlinear Anal. 75 (2012), 3218-3228) and many others are extended and generalized to the class of ordered partial metric spaces.

Sweet's syndrome induced by removable partial denture using a CoCr alloy: case report.

2010

Sweet's syndrome is an acute febrile neutrophilic dermatosis characterized by fever, neutrophilia and erythematous skin lesions. This disease typically occurs as a reactive event in response to infective, inflammatory or neoplastic processes. The aim of this work was to describe a rare case of Sweet's syndrome induced by dental removable partial denture using a CoCr alloy.

Single π0 production off neutrons bound in deuteron with linearly polarized photons

2021

The quasifree γ→d→π0n(p) photon beam asymmetry, Σ, has been measured at photon energies, Eγ, from 390 to 610 MeV, corresponding to center of mass energy from 1.271 to 1.424 GeV, for the first time. The data were collected in the A2 hall of the MAMI electron beam facility with the Crystal Ball and TAPS calorimeters covering pion center-of-mass angles from 49∘ to 148∘. In this kinematic region, polarization observables are sensitive to contributions from the Δ(1232) and N(1440) resonances. The extracted values of Σ have been compared to predictions based on partial-wave analyses (PWAs) of the existing pion photoproduction database. Our comparison includes the SAID, MAID and Bonn–Gatchina anal…

Garnet as a monitor for melt–rock interaction: Textural, mineralogical, and compositional evidence of partial melting and melt‐driven metasomatism

2021

International audience; In this study, we focus on a partially melted garnet-bearing granulite from the Salvador–Esplanade Belt (Salvador da Bahia, Brazil), and examine the behaviour of major and trace elements during partial melting and melt-driven metasomatism. Phase equilibria modelling and U–Th– Pb geochronology show that the sample underwent partial melting during the heating segment of the decompression path from ~1.2 GPa and 675–700° C to ~0.8 GPa and 790°C at c. 2.06 Ga. During the final stage of decompression, from 0.8 to ~0.5 GPa, physical segregation of melt resulted in the establishment of chemical potential gradients and mass transfer between the host granulite and the leucosom…
