Single-energy partial wave analysis for π0 photoproduction on the proton with fixed- t analyticity imposed

High-precision data of the $\ensuremath{\gamma}p\ensuremath{\rightarrow}{\ensuremath{\pi}}^{0}p$ reaction from its threshold up to $W=1.9\phantom{\rule{0.28em}{0ex}}\mathrm{GeV}$ have been used in order to perform a single-energy partial-wave analysis with minimal model dependence. Continuity in energy was achieved by imposing constraints from fixed-$t$ analyticity in an iterative procedure. Reaction models were only used as starting point in the very first iteration. We demonstrate that, with this procedure, partial-wave amplitudes can be obtained which show only a minimal dependence on the initial model assumptions.

An Embedded Solution for Multispectral Palmprint Recognition

Palmprint based identification has attracted much attention in the past decades. In some real-life applications, portable personal authentication systems with high accuracy and speed efficiency are required. This paper presents an embedded palmprint recognition solution based on the multispectral image modality. We first develop an effective recognition algorithm by using partial least squares regression, then a FPGA prototype is implemented and optimized through high-level synthesis technique. The evaluation experiments demonstrate that the proposed system can achieve a higher recognition rate at a lower running cost comparing to the reference implementations.

One of the most popular state-space reduction techniques for model checking is partial-order reduction (POR). Of the many different POR implementations, stubborn sets are a very versatile variant and have thus seen many different applications over the past 32 years. One of the early stubborn sets works shows how the basic conditions for reduction can be augmented to preserve stutter-trace equivalence, making stubborn sets suitable for model checking of linear-time properties. International audience; A cascade high gain observer is designed to estimate the first four leading moments of the crystal size distribution (CSD) and the mean crystal size in batch crystallization processes. The proposed observer is based on a well-known transformation of the partial differential equation describing the CSD to a set of ordinary differential equations (the method of moments). The prevailing structural model for ligand activation of ionotropic glutamate receptors posits that agonist efficacy arises from the stability and magnitude of induced domain closure in the ligand-binding core structure. Here we describe an exception to the correlation between ligand efficacy and domain closure. A weakly efficacious partial agonist of very low potency for homomeric iGluR5 kainate receptors, 8,9-dideoxyneodysiherbaine (MSVIII-19), induced a fully closed iGluR5 ligand-binding core. One-dimensional hydrodynamic modeling of coronal plasmas on transputer arrays

Abstract We describe a concurrent implementation of the Palermo-Harvard hydrodynamic code on cost-effective and modularity expandable transputer arrays. We have tested the effectiveness of our approach by simulating an already well-studied compact solar-flare model on different transputer configurations and compared their performances with those of other machines. We have found that the speed of the concurrent program on a 16-T800 transputers array is ~1/9 of that of the equivalent code optimized for a CRAY X-MP/48. Abstract Densities of 1-butyl-3-methylimidazolium octylsulfate ([bmim][OcOSO3]) solutions in water and 1-propanol have been measured with an oscillating-tube densimeter at temperatures from 278.15 K to 328.15 K. From these densities, apparent molar volumes Vϕ of [bmim][OcOSO3] in both solvents have been calculated, and its dependence on the molality has been treated with the Redlich and Meyer equation. Conductivity, density, heat capacity, enthalpy of dilution, and osmotic coefficient measurements of water−sodium perfluorooctanoate (NaPFO)−sodium dodecanoate systems were carried out as functions of the surfactants' total molality (mt) at different mole fractions (XNaPFO). From conductivity data, the critical micelle concentration (cmc) and the degree of ionization (β) of the micelles were derived. The cmc's of the micelles are higher than those of the pure surfactants while β depends linearly on XNaPFO.
