Organizational Innovation Promoters and Performance Effects in Small, Knowledge-Intensive Firms

This paper investigates the impacts of organizational factors on innovation and performance in small, knowledge-intensive firms. The study focused on Norwegian firms with 5 to 30 employees. The findings indicate that differentiating between product, process and market innovation provides a better understanding of the factors that drive innovation. This strategy seems to influence innovation. For instance, low-cost strategy positively impacts on both process innovation and market innovation. Also, external relationships significantly influence innovation: for instance, market participation in a product development context has a significant influence on product development.

Information acquisition in SME's relationship lending and the cost of loans

Abstract This study analyzes the effect of the reputation SMEs get in a relationship lending on the cost of next loans. A unique dataset of 734 Spanish SMEs' relationship lending provides information on a loan-by-loan basis about the ex post previous loan performance, which measures reputation. No prior empirical research differentiates the cost of loans following a defaulted loan from the costs of those following a successfully repaid loan. Results show that lenders obtain information about borrowers' risk-level during relationship lending and use this information. ResumenSe describe una intervención de ergonomía participativa iniciada en abril de 2010 en una empresa del sector químico de la Comunidad Valenciana. Se presentó el programa de intervención en la empresa, se acordó el ámbito de la intervención (dos líneas, 24 trabajadores y trabajadoras) y se constituyó un grupo de trabajo (Grupo Ergo, formado por personas responsables, técnicos y delegados de prevención de la empresa) encargado de guiar la intervención. Across the world, youth sports clubs are prominent and the main opportunity for engaging children and youth in physical activities. The primary purpose of this study was to investigate the impact of sports club participation on actual and perceived motor competences, achievement goal perspectives, and perceptions of school physical education among Finnish third-grade children. Participants were 114 girls and 100 boys (N = 214). All children were 10-years-old, or they would turn 10-years-old during the year of data collection.
