Strong and Radiative Decays of Heavy Flavored Baryons

1999

We analyze strong one-pion and radiative one-photon decays of heavy flavored baryons within a relativistic three-quark model. Employing the same parameters as were used for the description of the semileptonic decays of heavy baryons, we calculate the couplings of one-pion and one-photon transitions of both ground and excited heavy baryon states. We predict the decay rates for all relevant decay modes and compare them with experimental data when available and with the results of other model calculations.

Muon capture revisited

1990

Abstract The problem of inclusive muon capture in nuclei is studied by calculating the capture rate in asymmetric infinite nuclear matter and using the local density approximation to evaluate the capture rates in nuclei. It is shown that the method is rather reliable and allows one to improve on approximations used in the past. The need for a strong nuclear renormalization is shown, reducing the capture rates by about a factor two in medium and heavy nuclei. By using standard effective interactions in the spin-isospin channel one can account for this renormalization and one finds a remarkable overall agreement with the measured capture rates for a large list of nuclei through the periodic t…

Lightest Higgs boson production at photon colliders in the two Higgs doublet model type III

2005

The branching ratios of the lightest $CP$-even Higgs boson ${h}^{0}$ are calculated in the framework of the general two higgs doublet model. Different scenarios are presented taking into account constraints on the flavor changing neutral currents factors obtained in previous works. Plausible scenarios where appear flavor changing processes at tree level like $b\overline{s}$ and $t\overline{c}$ are analyzed for relevant parameters. The loop-induced Higgs couplings to photon pairs can be tested with a photon collider. The number of events of ${h}^{0}$ as a resonance in photon colliders are calculated taking into account its corresponding background signal at TESLA, CLIC, and NLC.

Extracting information on the decays from the decays

2005

Abstract We have analyzed the relation between the two-neutrino ( 2 ν β β ) and neutrinoless ( 0 ν β β ) double beta decays of 76Ge, 82Se, 100Mo, and 116Cd. The relevant nuclear matrix elements have been calculated by using the proton–neutron quasiparticle random-phase approximation (pn-QRPA) with realistic two-body interactions. The dependence of the calculated matrix elements on the strength g pp of the particle–particle part of the proton–neutron two-body interaction is investigated. Recently a procedure was proposed where data on 2 ν β β -decay half-lives could be used to derive appropriate values of g pp for calculating the 0 ν β β -decay matrix elements. Following this procedure, we h…

New constraints on axion-mediated P , T -violating interaction from electric dipole moments of diamagnetic atoms

2018

The exchange of an axionlike particle between atomic electrons and the nucleus may induce electric dipole moments (EDMs) of atoms and molecules. This interaction is described by a parity- and time-reversal-invariance-violating potential which depends on the product of a scalar ${g}^{s}$ and a pseudoscalar ${g}^{p}$ coupling constant. We consider the interaction with the specific combination of these constants, ${g}_{e}^{s}{g}_{N}^{p}$, which gives significant contributions to the EDMs of diamagnetic atoms. In this paper, we calculate these contributions to the EDMs of $^{199}\mathrm{Hg}$, $^{129}\mathrm{Xe}$, $^{211}\mathrm{Rn}$, and $^{225}\mathrm{Ra}$ for a wide range of axion masses. Com…

Probing long-range leptonic forces with solar and reactor neutrinos

2006

In this work we study the phenomenological consequences of the existence of long-range forces coupled to lepton flavour numbers in solar neutrino oscillations. We study electronic forces mediated by scalar, vector or tensor neutral bosons and analyze their effect on the propagation of solar neutrinos as a function of the force strength and range. Under the assumption of one mass scale dominance, we perform a global analysis of solar and KamLAND neutrino data which depends on the two standard oscillation parameters, \Delta m^2_{21} and \tan^2\theta_{12}, the force coupling constant, its range and, for the case of scalar-mediated interactions, on the neutrino mass scale as well. We find that,…

Universality of the rho-meson coupling in effective field theory

2004

It is shown that both the universal coupling of the rho-meson and the Kawarabayashi-Suzuki-Riadzuddin-Fayyazuddin expression for the magnitude of its coupling constant follow from the requirement that chiral perturbation theory of pions, nucleons, and rho-mesons is a consistent effective field theory. The prerequisite of the derivation is that all ultraviolet divergences can be absorbed in the redefinition of fields and the available parameters of the most general effective Lagrangian.

Kaon Photo- and Electroproduction on Nucleons

1995

We extend previous models of kaon photo- and electroproduction in order to include all six isospin channels. It is found that the inclusion of the few available data for the reactions γp → K 0 Σ − in the fit leads to drastically reduced Born coupling constants g Λ and g Σ . The result suggests the need to include hadronic form factors in a gauge invariant fashion. It is also shown that the K 0 form factor can be seen in K 0 Λ electroproduction.

Nuclear matrix elements for Majoron emitting double-$\beta$ decay

2021

A complete calculation of the nuclear matrix elements (NMEs) for Majoron emitting neutrinoless double beta decay within the framework of IBM-2 for spectral indices $n=1,3,7$ is presented. By combining the results of this calculation with previously calculated phase-space factors (PSFs) we give predictions for expected half-lives. By comparing with experimental limits on the half-lives we set limits on the coupling constants $\ensuremath{\langle}{g}_{ee}^{M}\ensuremath{\rangle}$ of all proposed Majoron-emitting models.
