Λ(1405) resonance as a superposition of two states

2008

Chiral unitarity models have shown the existence of two states with the same quantum numbers in the vicinity of the Λ(1405), both contributing to the final experimental invariant mass distribution. The K − p → π 0 π 0 Σ 0 reaction, discussed in detail in this work, gives maximal possible weight to the second Λ(1405) state, which is narrower and of higher energy than the nominal Λ(1405). The calculated distribution of π 0 Σ 0 states forming the Λ(1405) is in agreement with a recent experimental data, and shows a peak at 1420 MeV and a relatively narrow width of Γ = 38 MeV. In contrast, the π − p → K 0 πΣ reaction gives more weight to the pole at lower energy and with a larger width. The data…

New methods of evaluation of the flavor composition in e+ e- annihilation by double hemisphere tagging at LEP / SLC energies

1995

Two new methods are proposed to extract the flavour contents of the events produced at LEP/SLC, together with the classification matrix of a tagging by hemispheres. By utilising the tagging obtained in both hemispheres, the efficiencies, backgrounds and flavour compositions are directly obtained by fitting the data. A minimal dependence on modelling and a consistent treatment of systematic errors are achieved by applying these methods. The choice of the tagging algorithm is irrelevant in the methods, provided that similar efficiencies are reached. As an example, a multivariate analysis technique combining the tracking information given by a microvertex detector has been applied to extract t…

A high statistics lattice calculation of the B-meson binding energy

1996

We present a high statistics lattice calculation of the B--meson binding energy $\overline{\Lambda}$ of the heavy--quark inside the pseudoscalar B--meson. Our numerical results have been obtained from several independent numerical simulations at $\beta=6.0$, $6.2$ and $6.4$, and using, for the meson correlators, the results obtained by the APE group at the same values of $\beta$. Our best estimate, obtained by combining results at different values of $\beta$, is $\overline{\Lambda}=180^{+30}_{-20}$ MeV. For the $\overline{MS}$ running mass, we obtain $\overline{m}_{b}(\overline{m}_{b})=4.15 \pm 0.05 \pm 0.20$ GeV, in reasonable agreement with previous determinations. The systematic error is…

Improved measurement of the CKM angleγinB∓→D(*)K(*)∓decays with a Dalitz plot analysis ofDdecays toKS0π+π−andKS0K+K−

2008

We report on an improved measurement of the Cabibbo-Kobayashi-Maskawa CP-violating phase {gamma} through a Dalitz plot analysis of neutral D meson decays to K{sub s}{sup 0}{pi}{sup +}{pi}{sup -} and K{sub s}{sup 0}K{sup +}K{sup -} produced in the processes B{sup {-+}} {yields} DK{sup {-+}}, B{sup {-+}} {yields} D* K{sup {-+}} with D* {yields} D{pi}{sup 0}, D{gamma}, and B{sup {-+}} {yields} DK*{sup {-+}} with K8{sup {-+}} {yields} K{sub S}{sup 0}{pi}{sup {-+}}. Using a sample of 383 million B{bar B} pairs collected by the BABAR detector, we measure {gamma} = (76 {+-} 22 {+-} 5{+-} 5){sup o} (mod 180{sup o}), where the first error is statistical, the second is the experimental systematic unc…

Pion Form Factor Measurement and ISR at BESIII

2017

Abstract At BESIII, we measured the cross section of 900 MeV/c2 with a 2.93 fb−1 data set taken at the center-of-mass energy 3.773 GeV. The initial state radiation technique is used, and the total systematic uncertainty is estimated to be 0.9%. The squared form factor | F π | 2 is extracted, and comparisons are made with results from both KLOE and BaBar. The two-pion contribution to the hadronic vacuum polarization contribution to ( g − 2 ) μ is calculated to be a μ π π , LO ( 600 − 900  MeV / c 2 ) = ( 368.2 ± 2.5 s t a t . ± 3.3 s y s t . ) ⋅ 10 − 10 .

Updated pseudoscalar contributions to the hadronic light-by-light of the muon (g-2)

2016

In this work, we present our recent results on a new and alternative data-driven determination for the hadronic light-by-light pseudoscalar-pole contribution to the muon $(g-2)$. Our approach is based on Canterbury approximants, a rational approach to describe the required transition form factors, which provides a systematic and model-independent framework beyond traditional large-$N_c$ approaches. As a result, we obtain a competitive determination with errors according to future $(g-2)$ experiments including, for the first time, a well-defined systematic uncertainty.

Improved measurement of theB 0 andB + meson lifetimes

1996

The lifetimes of the B 0 and B + mesons have been measured with the Aleph detector at LEP, using approximately 3 million hadronic Z decays collected in the period 1991 1994. In the first of three methods, semileptonic decays of B 0 and B + mesons were partially reconstructed by identifying events containing a lepton with an associated D*- orbar D^0 meson. The second method used fully reconstructed B 0 and B + mesons. The third method, used to measure the B 0 lifetime, employed a partial reconstruction technique to identify B 0→ D*- π + X decays. The combined results are begin{gathered} tau _0 = 1.55 ± 0.06 ± 0.03 ps, \ tau _ + = 1.58 ± 0.09 ± 0.03 ps, \ tfrac{{tau _ + }}{{tau _0 }} = 1.03 ±…

Three-prong τ decays with charged kaons

1998

Final states with charged kaons in three-prong τ decays are studied by exploiting the particle identification from the dE/dx measurement. The results are based on a sample of about 1.6 × 105 detected τ pairs collected with the ALEPH detector between 1991 and 1995 around the Z peak. The following branching ratios have been measured: B(τ- → K−K+π−ντ) = (1.63 ± 0.21 ± 0.17) × 10−3, B(τ− → K−π+π−ντ) = (2.14 ± 0.37 ± 0.29) × 10−3, B(τ− → K−K+π−π0ντ) = (0.75 ± 0.29 ± 0.15) × 10−3, and B(τ− → K−π+π−π0ντ) = (0.61 ± 0.39 ± 0.18) × 10−3. The first two measurements are more precise than the current world averages, while the last two channels are investigated for the first time. The 95% C.L. upper limi…

Double pi(0) photoproduction off the proton at threshold

2003

The reaction $\gamma p \to \pi^0 \pi^0 p$ has been measured using the TAPS BaF$_2$ calorimeter at the tagged photon facility of the Mainz Microtron accelerator. Chiral perturbation theory (ChPT) predicts that close to threshold this channel is significantly enhanced compared to double pion final states with charged pions. In contrast to other reaction channels, the lower order tree terms are strongly suppressed in 2$\pi^0$ photoproduction. The consequence is the dominance of pion loops in the 2$\pi^0$ channel close to threshold - a result that opens new prospects for the test of ChPT and in particular its inherent loop terms. The present measurement is the first which is sensitive enough fo…
