Optical absorption of torus-shaped metal nanoparticles in the visible range
2007
Received 22 November 2007; published 19 December 2007We theoretically and experimentally investigated the optical response of a thin metal nanotorus in the visiblerange. The close formulas describing the extinction cross sections of a torus are obtained in the nonretardedapproximation. We demonstrate a good agreement between numerical simulations and experimental data. Ourfindings show that the main resonance is highly sensitive to the external medium and the geometrical param-eters of the particle.DOI: 10.1103/PhysRevB.76.245422 PACS number s : 78.67.Bf, 73.20.Mf, 78.20.Ci
Registration of arbitrary multi-view 3D acquisitions
2013
International audience; To register 3D meshes representing smooth surfaces we track the 3D digitization system using photogrammetric techniques and calibrations. We present an example by digitizing a 800 mm x 600 mm portion of a car door. To increase the tracking accuracy the 3D scanner is placed in a cubic frame of side 0.5 m covered with 78 targets. The target frame moves in a volume that is approximately 1100 mm x 850 mm x 900 mm, to digitize the area of interest. Using four cameras this target frame is tracked with of an accuracy of 0.03 mm spatially and 0.180 mrad angularly. A registration accuracy between 0.1 mm and 2 mm is reached. This method can be used for the registration of mesh…
Mass and width of the σ meson at finite density
2003
Abstract The ππ interaction in the σ channel is studied at finite densities in a chiral unitary approach. We present some results on the σ meson pole position. We also analyze the (γ, ππ) reaction on nucleons and nuclei in the kinematical region where the scalar isoscalar ππ scattering amplitude is influenced by the low mass of the σ in nuclei, and has a large enhancement close to the position of the σ pole.
Ds0⁎±(2317)and KD scattering fromBs0decay
2015
We study the B¯s0→Ds−(KD)+ weak decay, and look at the KD invariant mass distribution, for which we use recent lattice QCD results for the KD interaction from where the Ds0⁎(2317) resonance appears as a KD bound state. Since there are not yet experimental data on this reaction, in a second step we propose an analysis method to obtain information on the Ds0⁎(2317) resonance from the future experimental KD mass distribution in this decay. For this purpose, we generate synthetic data taking a few points from our theoretical distribution, to which we add a 5% or 10% error. With this analysis method, we prove that one can obtain from these “data” the existence of a bound KD state, the KD scatter…
Pion-induced η production on nuclei
1990
Abstract Low-energy η production on nuclei is investigated in a DWIA framework, using a Green function method. The η potential is constructed by folding medium-modified η N → S 11 → η N scattering amplitudes with nuclear wave functions. A phenomenological spreading potential is introduced for the intermediate S 11 resonance. Calculated ( π + , p ) η cross sections on 12 C and 16 O with the spreading potential having an imaginary part of the order of −50 ∼ −100 MeV compare favorably with recent experimental data. It is also shown that the energy dependence of the ( π + , η ) inclusive spectra is nicely reproduced, though the magnitude is somewhat underestimated.
S=−1meson-baryon unitarized coupled channel chiral perturbation theory and theS01resonances Λ(1405) and -Λ(1670)
2003
The $s-$wave meson-baryon scattering is analyzed for the strangeness $S=-1$ and isospin I=0 sector in a Bethe-Salpeter coupled channel formalism incorporating Chiral Symmetry. Four channels have been considered: $\pi \Sigma$, $\bar K N$, $\eta \Lambda$ and $K \Xi$. The required input to solve the Bethe-Salpeter equation is taken from lowest order Chiral Perturbation Theory in a relativistic formalism. There appear undetermined low energy constants, as a consequence of the renormalization of the amplitudes, which are obtained from fits to the $\pi\Sigma\to\pi\Sigma$ mass-spectrum, to the elastic $\bar K N \to \bar K N$ and $ \bar K N\to \pi \Sigma$ $t$--matrices and to the $ K^- p \to \eta \…
A novel kind of neutrino oscillation experiment
1994
A novel method to look for neutrino oscillations is proposed based on the elastic scattering process $\bar{\nu}_{i} e^{-}\rightarrow \bar{\nu}_{i} e^{-}$, taking advantage of the dynamical zero present in the differential cross section for $\bar{\nu}_{e} e^{-}\rightarrow \bar{\nu}_{e} e^{-}$. An effective tunable experiment between the "appearance" and "disappearance" limits is made possible. Prospects to exclude the allowed region for atmospheric neutrino oscillations are given.
<‘γ*N→Δtransition form factors: A new analysis of data onp(e,e′p)π0atQ2=2.8and4.0 (GeV/c)2
2001
Recent JLab data of the differential cross section for the reaction ${p(e,e}^{\ensuremath{'}}p){\ensuremath{\pi}}^{0}$ in the invariant mass region of $1.1lWl1.4 \mathrm{GeV}$ at four-momentum transfer squared ${Q}^{2}=2.8$ and $4.0 (\mathrm{GeV}{/c)}^{2}$ are analyzed with two models, both of which give an excellent description of most of the existing pion electroproduction data below $Wl1.5 \mathrm{GeV}.$ We find that at up to ${Q}^{2}=4.0 (\mathrm{GeV}{/c)}^{2},$ the extracted helicity amplitudes ${A}_{3/2}$ and ${A}_{/2}$ remain comparable with each other, implying that hadronic helicity is not conserved at this range of ${Q}^{2}.$ The ratios ${E}_{1+}{/M}_{1+}$ obtained show, starting …
Production ofψ(2S)mesons inpp¯collisions at 1.96 TeV
2009
We have measured the differential cross section for the inclusive production of $\ensuremath{\psi}(2\mathrm{S})$ mesons decaying to ${\ensuremath{\mu}}^{+}{\ensuremath{\mu}}^{\ensuremath{-}}$ that were produced in prompt or $B$-decay processes from $p\overline{p}$ collisions at 1.96 TeV. These measurements have been made using a data set from an integrated luminosity of $1.1\text{ }\text{ }{\mathrm{fb}}^{\ensuremath{-}1}$ collected by the CDF II detector at Fermilab. For events with transverse momentum ${p}_{T}(\ensuremath{\psi}(2\mathrm{S}))g2\text{ }\text{ }\mathrm{GeV}/c$ and rapidity $|y(\ensuremath{\psi}(2\mathrm{S}))|l0.6$ we measure the integrated inclusive cross section $\ensuremath…
The complete experiment for photoproduction of pseudoscalar mesons in a truncated partial wave analysis
2013
The complete experiment problem in the truncated partial wave analysis of pseudoscalar meson photoproduction with suppressed t-channel exchanges is investigated. The focus is set to ambiguities of the group S observables with the unpolarized differential cross section, $\sigma_0$, and the three single-spin observables, $\Sigma$, $T$ and $P$. For this purpose, the approach and formalism already worked out by Omelaenko in 1981 is revisited in this work. A numerical study using multipoles of the PWA solution MAID2007 shows how only one additional double polarization observable can resolve all ambiguities. Therefore, the possibility emerges to perform a complete experiment with only five observ…
