Halloysite (HNT) is a natural clay that, in the last years, has shown an important increasing on various applications in different field of interesting. Chemically similar to kaolin, it shows the predominately rolled shape, to form multilayers tubes of nanometric dimensions. The different chemical composition of the inside lumen (Al-OH) surface and outside (Si-O) give to the tubes a partial negative charge outside and positive inside. Bi-homogeneity and integrability of rational potentials

Abstract In this paper we consider natural Hamiltonian systems with two degrees of freedom for which Hamiltonian function has the form H = 1 2 ( p 1 2 + p 2 2 ) + V ( q 1 , q 2 ) and potential V ( q 1 , q 2 ) is a rational function. Necessary conditions for the integrability of such systems are deduced from integrability of dominate term of the potential which usually is appropriately chosen homogeneous term of V. We show that introducing weights compatible with the canonical structure one can find new dominant terms which can give new necessary conditions for integrability. A chain of solvable non-Hermitian Hamiltonians constructed by a series of metric operators

We show how, given a non-Hermitian Hamiltonian $H$, we can generate new non-Hermitian operators sequentially, producing a virtually infinite chain of non-Hermitian Hamiltonians which are isospectral to $H$ and $H^\dagger$ and whose eigenvectors we can easily deduce in an almost automatic way; no ingredients are necessary other than $H$ and its eigensystem. To set off the chain and keep it running, we use, for the first time in our knowledge, a series of maps all connected to different metric operators. We show how the procedure works in several physically relevant systems. In particular, we apply our method to various versions of the Hatano-Nelson model and to some PT-symmetric Hamiltonians.
Measurement of hard double-parton interactions inW(???) + 2-jet events at $\sqrt{s}\,=7$ TeV with the ATLAS detector

The production of W bosons in association with two jets in proton–proton collisions at a centre-of-mass energy of √s=7 TeV has been analysed for the presence of double-parton interactions using data corresponding to an integrated luminosity of 36 pb[superscript −1], collected with the ATLAS detector at the Large Hadron Collider. The fraction of events arising from double-parton interactions, f[superscript (D) over subscript DP], has been measured through the p[subscript T] balance between the two jets and amounts to f[superscript (D) over subscript DP] = 0.08 ± 0.01 (stat.) ± 0.02 (sys.) for jets with transverse momentum p[subscript T] > 20 GeV and rapidity |y| < 2.8. AbstractIn recent years, severe haze events often occurred in China, causing serious environmental problems. The mechanisms responsible for the haze formation, however, are still not well understood, hindering the forecast and mitigation of haze pollution. Our study of the 2012–13 winter haze events in Beijing shows that atmospheric water vapour plays a critical role in enhancing the heavy haze events. Under weak solar radiation and stagnant moist meteorological conditions in winter, air pollutants and water vapour accumulate in a shallow planetary boundary layer (PBL). Spectral Density Estimate for Stable Processes Observed with an Additive Error

International audience; In this paper, a symmetric alpha stable process where its spectral representation has an additive error is considered. The error is supposed to be constant. A periodogram as estimator of the spectral density and its rate of convergence are given. In order to give an asymptotically unbiased and consistent estimate of the spectral density, this periodogram is smoothed by an adapted spectral window. The rate of convergence is given.
Comparative cytotoxic study of silica materials functionalised with essential oil components in HepG2 cells

[EN] This work evaluated the cytotoxic effect of different EOCs-functionalised silica particle types. The in vitro toxicity of eugenol and vanillin-immobilised SAS, MCM-41 microparticles and MCM-41 nanoparticles was evaluated on HepG2 cells, and compared to free EOCs and pristine materials. The results revealed that free essential oil components and bare silica had a mild cytotoxic effect on HepG2 cells. However, the comparative study showed that free eugenol and vanillin had a milder cytotoxic effect than the equivalent concentrations of immobilised components on the different silica particles, while differences in cell viability between the bare and functionalised particles relied on the …
Functional incorporation of green fluorescent protein into hepatitis B virus envelope particles

AbstractThe envelope of hepatitis B virus (HBV), containing the L, M, and S proteins, is essential for virus entry and maturation. For direct visualization of HBV, we determined whether envelope assembly could accommodate the green fluorescent protein (GFP). While the C-terminal addition of GFP to S trans-dominant negatively inhibited empty envelope particle secretion, the N-terminal GFP fusion to S (GFP.S) was co-integrated into the envelope, giving rise to fluorescent particles. AbstractCo-expression in Escherichia coli of wild-type (wt) hepatitis B virus core protein (HBc) and its naturally occurring variants with deletions at amino acid positions 77–93 or 86–93 leads to formation of mosaic particles, which consist of three dimer subunit compositions. These compositions are wt/variant HBc heterodimers and two types of homodimers, formed by wt HBc or the variant HBc themselves. Mosaic particles were found also when both HBc deletion variants 77–93 and 86–93 were co-expressed in E. coli. These findings are discussed in terms of their significance for hepatitis B virus pathogenesis and prospective use of mosaic particles in vaccine development.
VLTI/AMBER spectro-interferometry of the late-type supergiants V766 Cen (=HR 5171 A), σ Oph, BM Sco, and HD 206859

Aims. We add four warmer late-type supergiants to our previous spectro-interferometric studies of red giants and supergiants. Methods. We measure the near-continuum angular diameter, derive fundamental parameters, discuss the evolutionary stage, and study extended atmospheric atomic and molecular layers. Results. V766 Cen (=HR 5171 A) is found to be a high-luminosity (log L/L = 5.8 ± 0.4) source of effective temperature 4290 ± 760 K and radius 1490 ± 540 R, located in the Hertzsprung-Russell (HR) diagram close to both the Hayashi limit and Eddington limit; this source is consistent with a 40 M evolutionary track without rotation and current mass 27-36 M.
